Riverside Pods - The Drey
Northumberland

The Drey is a contemporary pod sleeping four, positioned on the banks of the River Wansbeck within a country park that straddles woodland and water. Everything is on the ground floor behind a small entrance: an open-plan living area with smart TV and patio doors opening onto decking, a compact kitchen with gas cooking and dishwasher, a double bedroom, a twin room, and a shower room. Electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels come as standard. The raised decking has garden furniture and space to sit out; parking for two cars is on site.
The river here is popular with kayakers and paddle-boarders, who launch from a nearby slipway. Walkers follow the bank eastwards through the Local Nature Reserve, where roe deer, red squirrels, rabbits and various birds are regularly spotted. Cyclists have access to local routes. Newbiggin-by-the-Sea's sandy beach lies four miles away; Morpeth market town is ten minutes inland. An on-site café serves food and drinks daily. The property does not permit smoking. Arrive after 15:00, depart before 10:00.

Lovely riverside walk up to the weir at Sheepwash and beyond or travel east and end up at the seaside between Newbiggin and Cambois where the River Wansbeck flows out ! Nice little cafe and a playground, simple pleasures….and some deer !!

It's a very nice spot for families with kids or even for walking as well. It is a free car park and there is a play area with a huge slide, a couple of swings and a few kids play activities. There is also a walking route along the river as well. There is a cafe accessible next to the caravan site. They offer coffee, tea, milkshake, smoothies, cakes, freshly made sandwiches etc .. Over all its great location for picnic and walk.

a great place for relaxation and activity at any time of the year. For walking along the shore, for water sports (I usually start my paddleboarding here), a good playground. my grandson really likes to spend time here. you can just watch the birds, there are a lot of them here.
