The Old Reading Room

Northumberland

Bamburgh is a coastal village where the beach lies within walking distance and independent shops, cafes and pubs line the streets nearby. The Old Reading Room, a stone cottage built in the early 1800s, sits tucked away on a quiet lane just back from the centre. The building has had several lives—it started as a schoolhouse, then served the village as its reading room, and later as a surgery—before becoming holiday accommodation.

Everything is on the ground floor: a living and dining area with a woodburner and TV, a kitchen with electric cooker and microwave, two bedrooms (one double, one single), and a bathroom with bath and shower. The essentials are covered—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included. Outside there's a courtyard with a patio and garden furniture, plus parking for one car on site. Non-smokers only.

The property works well for a couple or small family wanting to be near the beach and village amenities without being in the thick of things. Bamburgh's attractions, including the Grace Darling Museum, are a short walk away.
