About Dunston Hall

Just south of Norwich on Ipswich Road, Dunston Hall makes a good base for exploring Norfolk while offering plenty of reasons to stay put. The hotel occupies a grand old mansion set within its own gardens, blending original period character with the practical comforts of a modern hotel, including free on-site parking.

Rooms are spacious and clean, with comfortable beds, though some are showing their age and could do with updating. Breakfast is a strong point, with a good range of options including vegan choices, and there's a restaurant and bar on site for other meals and drinks, along with room service for drinks. Staff are consistently friendly and attentive. For downtime, the hotel has a gym, spa and sauna, plus an indoor swimming pool, and the grounds themselves are well kept and pleasant to walk around.

Dunston Hall also functions as a wedding venue and has meeting rooms for business use, with lifts making the building accessible throughout. Beyond the grounds, there are pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, with Norwich itself within easy reach for a day of sightseeing.

Had the most wonderful stay here at Dunston Hall. Everything from the long drive through the golf resort to the reception, to the rooms, were A1. It was a short and sweet stay for myself and some colleagues as we had a conference to attend nearby, but we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This hotel is old school victorian edge, meets contemporary lux in the best way. Decent open and close times for the use of facilities, spa, gym etc. accommodating for all schedules. My room was well cleaned and there are USB ports and sockets at the bedside which is amazing. Often times sockets are the other side of the hotel making things like laptop using or phone using pretty impossible from your bed. Bathroom had a mat which was good to prevent slipping in the bath, that was a nice touch as you rarely get bath mats provided by hotels. I have to say, Vishal, who was on reception, on both days, our arriving and leaving the hotel was outstanding at customer service. So warm, professional and accommodating. I really hope he’s a valued employee because he does add value and makes a difference. The lockers in the changing rooms were easy to use and the sauna and steam rooms are sizeable. Breakfast was well stocked up and there was a lot of variety for every dietary requirement and preference. Coffee machines, fruit, a good selection of cereals and pastries and then hot food including vegetarian options. I’d definitely return when next in Norwich.

Just come home from another wonderful stay at Dunston Hall. My husband and I have been staying at Dunston Hall on and off for many years and regard it as our little escape place for relaxing , unwinding and getting away from the hustle bustle for a while. We came this time for a weekend stay with our daughter for my 50th Birthday treat! And a treat it was the rooms are always clean and very comfortable and always very quiet. We relaxed straight away with a glass of wine in the conservatory and the staff we amazing welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Lilly in particular was amazing and very attentive not just with us with all the guests that where using the bar area. I can honestly say she really made a difference to our experinice and is a credit to your team. Once again the spa area was top class the pool & spa area was clean easy to use and the water temperature is sopt on, we just loved it. We will be back soon for more R & R at Dunston. See you soon!! 🤗

Stayed here for the night, hotel is lovely but it’s like navigating a maze to get to some rooms. This review is mainly for the dining experience and the bar We went to the bar before our meal. My wife had a wine which was awful, tasted very cheap and as if it was the bottom of the bottle opened days ago. I took it back and replaced is with a J2O and was not even offered the difference in price. The bar man was also very ill, coughing and sniffing which was a little off putting. Our next drink I was luckily served by someone else, a young lad, I ordered for my wife a vodka lime and soda and to my horror, was served in a pint glass filled to the brim!!! Who trains these people. I have never seen a short served in a pint glass. Especially for a lady to drink!! Booked into the “Brasserie” for a meal and was not impressed. The menu is fine dining but the dining hall is not. Tables too close together, no table cloths, no ambiance at all. Just a normal dinner hall you would find on a holiday complex. Should not be called a brasserie. Also they allow dogs in the dining area, that is a no no for me, it’s not sanitary nor a great dining experience. I had the scallops for a starter and was given 3, yes just 3 tiny scallops for £15! That’s £5 each scallop. Terrible!! The mains were ok but the portions are very small for the price, almost Al a carte size. I am glad I ordered extra veg as I would have left hungry. The wait in between courses was far too long, in fact the wait was so long for a slice of cheesecake that I cancelled it as I lost my appetite in the end. Would definitely go back to the hotel but would not eat there again.

Beautiful building. Lovely staff. Rooms were lovely and clean and shower was great! Lovely bar and lounge. Bar food was really tasty and the brownie was delicious! Will most def return ! The Buffett breakfast was a bit disappointing. Not much taste and was just warm.
