About Norfolk Mead
The River Wensum runs past the garden here, with open Norfolk countryside stretching beyond, giving Norfolk Mead a quiet, green setting despite sitting close to Norwich. Church Loke leads to a two-storey house with grounds that run down to the water, and outdoor seating that makes the most of the garden views.
There are 17 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, free WiFi and drinks available in-room. The restaurant turns out breakfasts and dinners that guests have singled out for their range and presentation, and there's a bar, kids' meals and packed lunches for those heading out for the day. A spa and sauna on-site, including a hot tub, give the place a proper wind-down option beyond the dining room, and staff are noted for being attentive and easy to deal with.
Outside, the surrounding countryside suits walking and cycling, with fishing and golf nearby too, and watersports available for those wanting to get out on the water itself. There's free on-site parking, concierge services, and the hotel also works as a wedding venue. Norwich itself is close enough for an easy trip in.
What guests say
Booked the pig in mud package for my 40th birthday. Myself and my husband were thoroughly impressed with the whole stay, from the beautiful and very comfortable room to the excellent dinner and the relaxing spa. The staff are a real credit to the place, so friendly and professional. Breakfast was amazing! So many options from the menu and the buffet table, something for everyone. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful Setting, Good Afternoon Tea, But Weddings Can Impact the Experience We recently visited Norfolk Mead Hotel for afternoon tea and overall had a lovely afternoon. We were fortunate enough to be seated outside in the sunshine, which made for a really relaxing setting and a great way to spend a few hours. The afternoon tea itself was good. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty, and while the cakes were enjoyable, I wouldn’t say they were the best afternoon tea cakes I’ve had. Everything was nicely presented and there was certainly plenty to eat. The only thing that slightly spoiled the experience was the number of wedding guests. The hotel was hosting a wedding during our visit and it felt as though space was at a premium. At one point, I found myself feeling quite sorry for some of the wedding guests who appeared to be moved away from areas near where we were seated while trying to find somewhere cool and comfortable to sit. It made the whole setup feel a little stretched. That said, the grounds are beautiful, the atmosphere was pleasant and we still had a very enjoyable afternoon. I’d happily return, although next time I might check whether there is a wedding taking place before booking. Overall, a lovely venue for afternoon tea in a beautiful setting, with just a few operational niggles preventing it from being a truly outstanding experience.

We had an extremely pleasant stay at Norfolk Mead Hotel. The rooms were very comfortable, the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful and the food was top notch. The spa is clean, spacious and luxurious, and my deep tissue massage was of a very high standard. I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough.

Amazing stay! We loved it and would highly recommend. Positives: - Lovely place and staff - clean, safe and really nice vibes. - Delicious evening mean and breakfast (which was included)! - Great value for money. - Spa is AWESOME. - Nice room for the price. What to work on: - Everything was great - only criticism is the spa area got a bit too busy in our 2 hour slot at times. Would love to come back one day!
