About Recruiting Sergeant
Step into a room at the Recruiting Sergeant and you get a traditionally furnished space with an en-suite bathroom, drinks and room service on request, and free WiFi for catching up once you've settled in. It's a straightforward, comfortable base rather than a design statement, with 24 hour reception on hand for whatever you need at any hour.
Downstairs, the restaurant and bar are where this Norwich Road hotel earns its reputation, with an extensive menu built around fish and seafood alongside generous portions and a friendly welcome from attentive staff. Breakfast is served on site, and given how busy the restaurant gets, booking ahead for dinner is worth doing.

We had Sunday Lunch here as it was recommended by the lady we rented our cottage from. It is probably the best Sunday Lunch I have had in many years! Huge portions, great quality roasts and plenty of veggies. So much meat my dog had enough for two main meals ( doggy bags are freely available) Didnt have enough room for dessert but I dont doubt they are great. We didnt stay here so can't comment on the accommodation. Staff and service excellent. Dog friendly but note it is SO busy you must make a reservation.

My sister and I stopped here and were extremely lucky to get a table for two without reservations, though I would certainly recommend reserving a table if possible. I have Coeliac Disease and the staff were very knowledgeable. Most dishes can be adjusted to accommodate gluten free. We both opted for the fish pie which was gorgeous. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. There is lovely atmosphere here. I'd not hesitate to come back here again and try something else from the menu.

Amazing restaurant. I've been here a couple of times now and it has been great both times. Nice varied menu with a lot to choose from and a particularly good selection of fish dishes. The food was outstanding on both occasions, cooked to perfection and very tasty. Service is really good too with friendly helpful staff.

Amazing food, restauramt was packed but our food was still very quick. The food quality was amazing, i had the chicken tika half chicken with wings, rice and naan. Every part of the dish was top quality. On our table we also had a sirlion steak, cod and chips and the duck meal. Everyone really enjoyed their food. Would highly recommend visiting if you can.
