About The Ballachulish Hotel
Seafood is the thing to order at The Ballachulish Hotel, where the restaurant has built a reputation for fresh, well-cooked dishes served alongside views over the loch. There's a bar on site too, along with breakfast each morning, making it easy to start and end the day without leaving the building. Service is generally warm and welcoming, though it can be stretched thin at busier times.
The hotel has 53 rooms, many of which look directly out over the loch towards Ben Nevis, giving guests a proper sense of the Highland scenery from their window. Rooms are kept comfortable and clean, and facilities extend to free WiFi, a lift, meeting rooms, concierge service, and luggage storage for those breaking up a longer journey. Free on-site parking and airport transfers are also available, and pets are welcome.
Ballachulish itself sits within easy reach of Fort William, with Ben Nevis providing a natural focus for walkers and climbers in the area. Nearby pubs, restaurants, and entertainment options fill out an evening beyond the hotel's own restaurant and bar, making it a straightforward base for exploring this part of the Highlands.

What guests say
We stayed at the Ballachulish Hotel as part of a German coach tour around Scotland, and this was the fourth hotel on our journey. We were absolutely delighted with the stunning location and the breathtaking views. There is even a small staircase leading down to the water, which made the setting even more special. The hotel has a charming, traditional character that we really appreciated. It feels authentic and fits perfectly into the beautiful surroundings of Glencoe. Our group enjoyed a three-course dinner with a choice of three different dishes for each course. A special compliment goes to the chef, Mahesh – the dinner was one of the absolute highlights of our entire trip! Every course was delicious, beautifully prepared, and full of flavour. Yes, the rooms are a little bit noisy, but since we only spent a short time in them, this did not affect our stay. The comfort, the atmosphere, the friendly service, and especially the amazing location more than made up for it. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the Ballachulish Hotel to anyone visiting the Highlands. Thank you for making our stay so memorable!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights with Globus tours. She came down with a nasty cold and the staff was so nice and polite. Jack, one of the servers was outstanding on every respect. Kudos to him and Chloe ( I believe that is her name). Wish we had people of that caliber on the US. The food was also excellent. Best mussels I ever had in my 76 year life.

The absolute making of our holiday, Ballachulish Hotel had everything we hoped for in our Highlands trip. The reception staff were welcoming and professional from the moment we arrived until our final day. They went above and beyond — from settling us in comfortably, to lighting the fire in the lounge for us to relax on a stormy afternoon, and offering helpful advice about local walks in the area. The servicing of the room was exceptional, carried out daily with real attention to detail. On one particularly cold night, they even went out of their way to find us an extra rug, which was greatly appreciated. The views are simply amazing, and the restaurant offered a great selection of dishes. The fish in particular was of exceptional quality. The restaurant staff were warm, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. It is well worth staying for five or six days to truly explore the local area and enjoy the wonderful walks nearby. (Top tip use All Trails app to find all kinds of interesting walks for every ability) Thank you Ballachulish Hotel…..We will be back.

I have written a bunch of good or excellent review on places i have stayed in the Brittish Isles. This is a place I would not stay again. Our room faced the parking lot and was near a noicy door. I could also hear the people upstairs walking, and it was relatively loud. I dont know how to compary to other places nearby, but I would not stay at this place again. I am not upset. Im just stating the backs. The people who work there were lovely though.
