Timberyard was one of the highlights of our trip to Edinburgh. The atmosphere is warm, beautiful, and inviting, making it the perfect place for a special dinner. The food was outstanding! Every course was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. You can really tell how much care goes into every dish. What made the experience even better was the staff. Everyone was so welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do, which made the entire evening feel special. We also had one guest that had some dietary restrictions, and they were insanely accommodating. An unforgettable dining experience from start to finish. We can't wait to come back!

The restaurant Timberyard is located in the center of Edinburgh, not far away from Grassmarket in the Old Town. We were there for the first time for dinner. The Timberyard is inside really wonderful. It's an old historic room, a former warehouse, that was transformed into a stylish modern restaurant. The room has a high ceiling, historic pillars, a dark wooden floor, wooden tables and in the evening many lighted candles. The atmosphere is very warm and special. You feel yourself there very welcome and from the first moment at home. The service is very professional, competent, overlooking and relaxed. It feels very good to be their guest. The employees do a very good job and accompany you the whole evening in the best sense. A special thing is the fantastic music - from jazz to pop to chill to classic - that fits perfectly to the dramaturgy of the dinner. The main thing - the food - is simply fantastic. It's sustainable, seasonal, regional and very creative. It's a very modern Scottish version of fine dining. We had for example a perfect scallop with smoked roe, made with wonderful flavors, especially the dark creme. Very impressing were the wild mushrooms, a dish with incredible aromatic umami, perfectly done, simply unforgettable. Very delicious were also the sea bass with manzanilla and the roe buck with lemon thyme. Additional we had the wine pairing including some unusual wines fitting very good with the dishes. At all Timeryard is a sophisticated fine dining restaurant with an extraordinary overall concept of special atmosphere, fine dining and relaxed stay. It's a really outstanding place for dining. The star of the Guide Michelin is absolutely accurate, it felt for us near two stars. We would ever like to be there again!

Solid Service, But the Kitchen and Bar Missed the Mark Timberyard | Edinburgh, Scotland We arrived a few minutes before lunch service and waited outside the large red doors until they opened. A kind woman greeted us and led us to our table, and our order was taken shortly after. While the atmosphere is great, the technical side of the meal didn't quite live up to the setting. The Breakdown: Service & Staff: This was the highlight. Every employee we dealt with was professional, courteous, and very helpful. The front-of-house team really knows what they’re doing. The Bar: My partner ordered a cocktail, but it was a letdown. It was packed with so much crushed ice that the drink watered down almost immediately. He didn't feel any alcohol in it at all, and the flavor just wasn't there. The Food: * The prawns were tasty, but they were a struggle to eat. My partner enjoyed his main course, but mine was a miss. I found the texture of the radicchio didn't work with the calamari at all, and the sauce really didn't pull the dish together. Dessert was perfectly fine, but looking back, nothing about the meal stands out for the right reasons. The Verdict: The staff is excellent and the space is beautiful, but the food and drinks just didn't hit the level I expected. It was a decent experience, but not a memorable one. Fine Dining Auditor

Overall a fun and delicious experience made even more special by Holly. You had us at pickle plate. And when Holly found out we were such big fans that hadn’t been successful in our hunt for pickles throughout Scotland, she brought out even more! The cultivated mushrooms were delicious, but the Roe buck & Jack by the hedge was far and away my favorite tasting in the menu. Especially the “tea” that preceded it. Incredibly flavorful, rich, and complex. Again, a big thank you to Holly for making the evening special for us, for the recommendations to other Edinburgh experiences, the laughs, and for the “fish and chips” recommendations.
