A former shooting lodge on North Uist, overlooking a sea loch, with an award-winning restaurant serving local seafood.

About Langass Lodge

Langass Lodge occupies a nineteenth-century former sporting lodge on the shore of Loch Langass in North Uist, surrounded by moorland, sea loch and machair rather than any other buildings. It has become known chiefly for its restaurant, which draws diners from across the Uists as well as guests staying overnight.

Rooms are split between the original lodge and a more contemporary garden wing, with the newer rooms generally larger and finished in a simpler, more modern style than the traditional decor of the main house. Both wings look out over quiet, undeveloped countryside rather than the sea itself.

The lodge sits close to the Barpa Langass chambered cairn and the wildlife-rich Balranald nature reserve, making it a practical base for exploring North Uist's archaeology and birdlife, with the causeway network giving reasonably quick access south to Benbecula and beyond.

Rooms (in the new part) are very spacious. Family room had plenty of space even while sleeping 4 and the doubles were roomy as well with seating areas and desks. The bar is split with the old bar mostly for drink and d the new extension for dining. It has a relaxed feel but you can still benefit from the amazing menu. Great range of whisky. The restaurant is a little more up market. The menu is small but with specials changing most days you can happily stay for a week and experience a range of food. The fish and shellfish is amazing. Try the langoustine. Child and dog friendly. Children's menu was great for a 4 and 7 year old. They were incredibly welcoming and kids could have an earlier dinner in the bar. Swingset in the garden. The area is stunning, we could see eagles and stags from the bedrooms. Short walk to loch langass and pobull fhinn stone circle.

We had the best brunch and flat white coffee here. My husband had the Full Scottish breakfast and I had Eggs Benedict. It was absolutely delicious. We made reservations to come back and it was just as good as the first time. My husband said it was the best Scottish breakfast he’s ever had and I said it was the best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had! Service was excellent too.

Have a meal with family and friends - service was fantastic with the team having a great sense of humour - our friends Spaniel was also allowed in with us. The meals were fantastic to a person and very reasonably priced given the quality and size of portions. Would strongly recommend a visit, especially if you've been out to view tbe otters or hen harriers that reside around the Lodge.

Only had dinner here didn't stay. While it was a bit expensive, I have to say it was very good, started with mixed smoked fish platter 6 different fish, then had the belly pork with scallops (see photo) and finished with American cheese cake, my wife had the pan fried haddock and then the rhubarb Panna Cotta. All of which were wonderful and not a bad view either.
