About Moorcroft Holidays

Moorcroft Holidays sits on the Isle of North Uist in the Western Isles, where the landscape of moorland and lochs stretches around you and the pace of life slows considerably. The setting gives you access to the kind of quiet and space that draws people north to the Outer Hebrides, with the owners known for being helpful in pointing guests towards what the islands have to offer.

The campsite provides showers, laundry facilities, and a kitchen with cooking equipment – practical comforts that matter when you're in a remote location. Visitors report the facilities are clean and well-maintained, and the kitchen is properly stocked for self-catering. The atmosphere here is peaceful, suited to those looking for genuinely remote countryside rather than activity and entertainment.

What a fantastic site! Iain was extremely accommodating friendly and helpful. So many little niceties added to ensure that the camping experience that we had was excellent, apart from the amazing views from the pictures, there are so many other things such as a fully stocked camper's kitchen, with cafetiers, crockery, cutlery, microwave etc as well as table and chairs in case the weather is that ferocious!. He really has thought of everything, A great laundry room with drying racks well as a dryer of everything clean. Tidy and easy to use. We had such a great couple of days there. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you, Iain.

Great campsite with immaculately kept facilities. It’s worth the slightly higher price than other sites on Uist. Full kitchen with small seating area available. Laundry (£5/wash). We felt very welcome. Grass for tents a bit exposed and on slopes but we found a good spot that our sturdy tent was fine with.

We camped at Moorcroft for 2 nights, while pottering around the Uists by bicycle. This is probably the best campsite we have ever stayed at (in 40 years of cycle camping). The owners spend a lot of time and care looking after the campsite and nothing was too much trouble. The facilities are fantastic, from the quality of the showers and toilets, the dedicated laundry and drying room, to the best equipped kitchen you could imagine (cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster, pans, utensils, crockery, etc.). Highly recommended and this would be a priority for a stay if we revisit North Uist.

Campervan trip in April 2026. Great wee site. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The washroom block is great and spotlessly clean. The dog walking area was great and kept us from bothering the sheep who were very friendly! Good price for a great site. Would return if I ever get the chance.
