Bodleian library is one of historical place in Oxford University campus. It's front opposite to Radcliffe Camera. I visited this place last month. Now I am back to india. But I miss this place and surrounding. It's a very good place with a restaurant inside. It's well connected with Oxford city via regularly running busses... in November 2025 I visited - yes it was cold , recommended to bring your warm clothes. Take care of cold temperature some times -2. So take care of your health. I am sharing some footages of nearby Oxford. Have a look & enjoy this historical place... Go to UK and enjoy this historic place inside Oxford campus... thanks

An amazing place full of history and culture. The building is big but the library use medium small size. We had a guided tour. The tourist guide was well knowledgeable. We did bit tickets in line since you have to pick your slot. You are not allowed food, drinks or big bulky luggage.

Definitely worth it! Our guide was very knowledgeable and also provided visual aids of before and after photos of renovations and restorations. Our guide provided us with an extensive history of the background and founding of the library, in addition to the lecture hall and testing area. This library has one of the most extensive collections of some of the oldest books I have ever seen in my life.

The Bodleian Library, or "the Bod," is not merely a library; it is the academic and historical soul of the University of Oxford. As one of the oldest libraries in Europe (opened in 1602) and a copyright library, it holds a copy of every book published in the UK and Ireland—a collection of over 13 million printed items. For the visitor, its grandeur is breathtaking. The iconic core is the Old Schools Quadrangle, home to the Divinity School, a masterpiece of late Gothic vaulting (used as the Hogwarts infirmary), and the majestic Duke Humfrey's Library (the Hogwarts restricted section). The complex spirals out to include the stunning Radcliffe Camera and the modern Weston Library. My Perspective & Advice: This is a working library, not a museum. Public access is only via guided tours, which are essential and superb. Book the "Extended Tour" online in advance—it's the only way to see Duke Humfrey's historic reading room. The standard tour is excellent, but the extended version is worth every extra penny for its palpable, scholarly atmosphere. Stand in the Tower of the Five Orders courtyard and feel the weight of centuries. This is where knowledge has been guarded, debated, and advanced by generations of scholars. You're walking in the footsteps of monarchs, Nobel laureates, and fictional wizards. It’s an absolute, non-negotiable highlight of any visit to Oxford.
