What guests say
I recently stayed here with my son for 2 nights for a comic event in the city centre. We found the bus service to reach Pickwicks very convenient so the location was ideal, just a minute or 2 from the bus stop. We had given advance notice of dietary requirements and looked forward to the 'very good' breakfast as highlighted on our booking. The room was adequate upon arrival although we felt hot in the room with the heating on during a very warm period. We managed to turn this off and opened all the windows but bedding was a bit hot too and pillows poor. The main disappointment was the mattress on which I could feel hard springs when I was sleeping. I woke with a bad back which is unusual. We used the shower which had extremely weak pressure. The towel rail also fell off the wall. Breakfast was very disappointing with no vegan suitable spread available and lack or understanding from staff about why gluten free bread wasn't required. I'm not even confident this was vegan. I was given a carton of milk which was lumpy in my coffee and I realised was out of date. Another one carton then provided. My breakfast consisted of 1 hash brown, 1 dry sausage, 1 cold uncooked cherry tomato, approx 1 mushroom (chopped, cooked) and a small bowl of beans, plus toast, juice and coffee. After 2 terrible nights sleep I then found multiple bites upon waking. I don't know if this was a bed big infestation but the mattress was very old so if you are staying, check the beds carefully. I regret that I didn't look more closely. We found a couple of restaurants nearby and really enjoyed the city itself.

I booked this guest house for five nights following my dad's heart attack in order to be close by to the hospital in which he was staying, less than half a mile away, and thankfully only ended up having to spend a single night due to him making a swifter recovery than predicted. My room, specifically number fourteen, was lovely and quiet, overlooking the garden at the rear of the property. Initially I was a little concerned that being so close to a main road that there would be a lot of noise, but I honestly slept soundly the whole night without a single disturbance. This guest house is nice and close by to all the essentials you may need in the way of shops and restaurants, and it's a very short bus ride into the heart of Oxford, or within walking distance if you're up for it. The breakfast, too, was pretty decent in my opinion. As I mentioned, I was initially booked for five nights and ended up spending only a single night here, and the staff kindly refunded me the majority of the remaining nights, though they probably weren't obliged to do so. Couldn't ask for more all things considered.

Stayed here while my gf was having a kidney transplant at the nearby hospital.. staff were polite.. rooms clean, allowed me to book day by day as didn't know when she would be discharged.. I had booked the room and paid, but gf was discharged earlier than planned..informed hotel that I wouldn't be collecting keys ..... hotel rang me to say they would refund me ....the hotel didn't have to do this ..very kind and considerate... will definitely stay here again when we come back to oxford. Thank you to all the staff for making a very stressful time easier for me
