What guests say
Stayed for 2 nights mid June. We paid a higher cost for a higher spec room. The hotel is right beside a large park and ride, easy to find. We arrived at 16.30 on a Friday and was surprised the carpark was mostly empty. Check in was easy and the carparking was explained. Horizon parking manage the site, its £7.20 for 48 hours, add in 40p for txt confirmations. If you have the app its easy, but simpler still if you use the pay machine outside the entrance left side. There's a bus stop opposite Canning Crescent, 2 mins away, all buses stop here going into the city for a 10 minute ride. The room.. very clean and tidy, but smaller than expected, upgrades here were based on original rooms, so no fridge or free +30 min Internet, but still good. We had a problem with a toilet flush button - disappeared into the void.. but the duty manager Rudi was extremely helpful in changing rooms for us. If you have a car its easier to stay out of town, we bused in but its a 30min walk (past 2pubs).

Our stay at Travelodge Oxford Abingdon Road will always be one of the most treasured memories for our family. My son and I travelled from Thailand to Oxford for the first time to attend the University of Oxford Open Days, and we stayed at Travelodge Oxford Abingdon Road from 1st to 5th July. As we expected the English summer to be quite warm, we specifically searched for a hotel with air conditioning. Looking back, choosing this hotel was one of the best decisions we made. From the moment we checked in until the day we checked out, every member of staff was welcoming, professional, and genuinely kind. After our long journey, we especially appreciated being allowed to check in early. I would like to give special thanks to Joti at the front desk. Her warm smile, kindness, and thoughtful service made us feel at home from the very beginning. We also really appreciated the room selection system, which allowed us to choose our own room. We selected a quiet room on the third floor, and it was spotless, cosy, and extremely comfortable throughout our stay. The quiet atmosphere, comfortable room, and well-designed workspace allowed my son to stay focused and keep up with his studies, which meant a great deal to us. Breakfast was also excellent and was the perfect way to begin each morning. The hotel’s location was another huge advantage. Just across the pedestrian crossing in front of the hotel were several bus stops, making it incredibly easy to travel into Oxford city centre, the University, and other nearby attractions. For first-time visitors to Oxford, the location couldn’t have been more convenient. To our surprise, the weather during our stay was beautifully cool and refreshing, so we never even needed to use the air conditioning. What I will remember most, however, are the peaceful early mornings. Because of the time difference, I often woke up before sunrise. I would make myself a cup of coffee from the coffee machine in the lobby, step outside the hotel, and enjoy it while breathing the fresh, cool morning air. The beautiful, quiet neighbourhood gave those mornings a truly special atmosphere. Seeing other hotel guests gently walking their dogs through the peaceful streets added such a warm and comforting feeling. Those simple moments, with a cup of coffee in my hand while watching Oxford slowly wake up, are memories I will treasure for the rest of my life. This trip became even more meaningful for our family because, during our stay in Oxford, my son discovered his dream of studying at the University of Oxford. For that reason, this hotel will always be much more than just a place where we stayed—it will forever remind us of where his dream truly began. I sincerely hope we will have the opportunity to visit Oxford again next year. When that day comes, we will choose Travelodge Oxford Abingdon Road again without hesitation. Our heartfelt thanks to Joti and every member of staff for making our very first visit to Oxford so warm, comfortable, and truly unforgettable.

Desk staff were great. The rest was poor. "Family room" is just a double room with two singles crammed in. Midday checkout, went for a coffee at 10am, returned at 11am but the staff had cleared my colleague's room and take their bag to reception??? Air con barely doing anything, room right next to a main road so cant open window unless you wanna wake up at 5am to passing trucks. Also had to pay for parking and had to download another app to do so.

Stayed a night here as a stopover on our journey home from a holiday up north. It was basic, yes, but you get what you pay for. I had no complaints and couldn't speak too highly of Rudi, the duty manager. Her warm, smiling welcome, sense of humour, pleasant chat and accurate advice was appreciated. She is undoubtedly an asset to her employers. Situated quite literally next door to the Park and Ride, you can leave your car in the hotel car park, walk for two minutes then jump on a bus into Oxford. Easy. And you don't have to pay to park your car there! But you do need to register it with the hotel to avoid a nasty parking fine though so be warned! But overall....no complaints...but the traffic noise from the road outside can be intrusive.
