About Biggin Hall Hotel
Biggin Hall stands in the hamlet of Biggin-by-Hartington, in the limestone country roughly midway between Ashbourne and Buxton. The core of the house is 17th century and Grade II* listed, with thick stone walls, mullioned windows and open fires still in use. It has been run as a country house hotel for decades and has eight acres of grounds around it, at over 1,000 feet above sea level.
There are more than 20 bedrooms, split between the main hall and converted stone outbuildings in the courtyard. No two are quite the same: some have four-poster or canopied beds and original beams, others are simpler ground-floor rooms in the annexe, and a few are suited to longer stays. Furnishings are traditional rather than contemporary, and the quieter courtyard rooms are a good choice for light sleepers. Dogs are welcome in designated rooms.
The restaurant holds an AA Rosette and serves a set-price dinner menu of British country cooking, open to non-residents as well as guests. Breakfast is cooked and included. The sitting rooms have log fires, board games and books rather than televisions, which sets the tone of the place. Parking is free and there is a drying room for wet gear.
Dovedale and the Dove Valley are a short drive, the Tissington and High Peak Trails pass close by for walkers and cyclists, and Hartington village with its cheese shop is a mile and a half away. Buxton, Ashbourne and Alton Towers are each within half an hour. It suits walkers, cyclists and older couples who want somewhere traditional and quiet with dinner on site.

What guests say
17 of us recently enjoyed a delightful celebration dinner at beautiful Biggin. Paris made arranging this at some distance very easy and the Biggin team delivered above and beyond expectations. The food was attractively presented, delicious and the staff truly affable and professional. Most of the party have dined and many stayed at this hidden gem and simply want to keep returning. Thank you dear Biggin for more treasured memories.

My wife and I went here for an evening meal together with one of my sisters as it was a birthday treat. It was enjoyable, although the chairs are uncomfortable. The service and the food were good, but rather expensive. It was a pity that the pianist wasn't there, as I had been led to believe that he would be. It was a little awkward at the end as their internet went down and I couldn't pay! (I paid over the phone the following day.) Before our meal we were in another room and some random cat walked in. Although I found it to be very affectionate and didn't much mind, my wife and sister were rather anxious in case it pulled their dresses with its claws, which was an understandable concern.
