About Ginger Hill

Tucked into Pembrokeshire woodland a quarter-hour from Haverfordwest, Ginger Hill is a small, family-run retreat that draws anglers to its three coarse fishing lakes and welcomes campfires under the stars. Barn owls hoot as the sun sets; the lakes attract plenty of birdlife and insects if you're more species-spotter than angler. Pitches include electric hardstanding for motorhomes and non-electric grass for tents, with dogs welcome year-round and rallies accommodated.

The site runs on renewable energy and offers charging facilities, recycling, and a chemical disposal point. Reviews mention occasional tired touches around the facilities, but the peaceful, wooded setting and friendly hosts win campers over. Newgale's surf breaks are 25 minutes away; Tenby and Saundersfoot's beaches lie 40 minutes beyond. For a quirky day out, Picton Castle's owl aviaries and woodland adventure playground sit 20 minutes up the road.

A magical, wonderful stay. Lavender Lodge was beautifully set, super quiet and serene. It felt like there was something magical about the place, then I met the owners - Julie and Richard - and knew why. If you’re spiritual, you’ll find a true home here and if you’re not, you’ll just feel good without knowing why. Go! Do yourselves a favour. Go to Marloe Sands and eat at the cafe there - fab food. Oh and say hi to ‘Bob’ the mower!

We loved our stay camping here. The toilet and shower facilities were adequate, lovely washing up room with phone charging points, kettle, toaster and fridge and freezer which we thought was a great touch. The owners are lovely people, they're really helpful, great to have a chat to and very hardworking, honest people. I would highly recommend a stay here, its so tranquil, encapsulated in woodland and really gave us the relaxation factor for our holiday. We will definitely be back, best wishes until then.

Ascetically this is a really nice site, but, it's slightly lacking in a number of areas. We have a large motorhome and a lot of low hanging trees give restricted access to some areas. Also there is no formal service area for motorhomes. The site is very relaxed about dogs which is good for us with two dogs, but, there's no dog walks. Toilet and shower facilities are adequate, although water pressure can be an issue. All in all, some of the shortcomings of this site can be forgiven as it is attempting to be green, but, can't help feeling a little more tlc wouldn't go amiss. We won't use this site again as it isn't suitable for large motorhomes. However, if back to nature is your bag, you'll probably have an enjoyable stay.

A fantastic site! There are lots of pitches and we were able to pick one on the edge of the trees overlooking two of the fishing ponds. The pitch combined with an open fire definitely made it feel like wild camping - even though there are toilets and showers available. Within 20 mins you have St Davids, beaches, surfing, coasteering, climbing, etc. Owners were very helpful also. Will definitely be returning to this site .
