Narrowgates Cottage

The Barley Mow and surrounding countryside are within reach on foot from Narrowgates Cottage, a three-bedroom property on a quiet cobbled street where a cotton mill once stood. The cottage itself dates to the 18th century and has been restored to keep its original character—quarry tiles in the kitchen, a wood burner in the living room—while adding the essentials modern guests expect. It sleeps five across three bedrooms, one of which is a single, with a bathroom upstairs. Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are provided, and logs for the wood burner are included.

Downstairs, the ground floor holds a living room with a wood burner and smart TV, a kitchen and dining space with an oil Aga, and a conservatory. The property sits within two acres of grounds with an enclosed courtyard featuring a barbecue. Parking for four cars is on site, and there is space for bikes. One well-behaved pet stays free. The cottage does not allow smoking. This setup works well for families—a travel cot, highchair and stairgate are available—or groups wanting to stay together in one place, with moorland walks starting from the doorstep and the wider Pendle area a short drive away.
