Great weekend at Thacka Lea. Andrew, the owner was very sociable and helpful. The site was spotless in the toilets and pot wash and the site was very well maintained on three levels. Location was great, a 15 mins walk from town centre. Pity there wasn't a grey water drop out for motorhomes which would be of great help. Entrance to site is down a walled narrow lane for 100m so proceed with caution. It's on my list of favourites and I will definitely return.

It's unusual to find a site so close to a town centre, it's only a short walk to a range of shops, bars and restaurants. In the other direction, only about 200 yards away, is a lovely little nature reserve, ideal for walking the dogs. Clean toilets and showers, you'll need 50p coins, but there's a few left out in pairs for you to swap pound coins with. It's an honesty system, which is lovely. Very helpful and friendly welcome.

Booked for May Spring Bank Holiday 2026. Site is a 15 min walk to Penrith. Site is well kept with varying pitch sizes, long electric cables are needed on some. Lots of mature trees around the site which adds privacy. The West Coast mainline trains run close to the site, but there's very little noise from them and we have slept soundly with the windows & rooflights open. Facilities are clean, showers are 50p (for approx 5 minutes)

Basic but adequate facilities, clean and tidy. Location good…Small site tucked away but surprisingly noisy at night we felt…hum of industry/factories somewhere close by. Train line busy up until about 11pm and before 6am which woke me up as a light sleeper. Not particularly cheap so 50p for the one shower was a bit of much really…lacking in personality overall…
