About Woodhead Farm

Tucked into the Eden Valley just beyond the Lake District's eastern edge, this small working farm offers a surprisingly well-appointed base for exploring three national landscapes. The pitches themselves are fully serviced – gravel and grass, with drainage and electric hook-ups – and from here you can reach Ullswater, the North Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales all within half an hour's drive. The owners have thought carefully about activities: bikes can be delivered direct to your pitch through a local hire company, and walkers can join trails straight from site.

Spring visitors get to meet newborn lambs, though the working livestock means dogs can't be accommodated. Golfers are spoilt for choice with several 18-hole courses nearby, while Penrith's restaurants and takeaways are ten minutes away if you tire of barbecuing. For a treat, there's a Michelin-starred pub in Skelton, also ten minutes' drive but requiring advance booking.

What visitors say

Road

Stayed at Woodhead Caravan Park recently and honestly couldn’t fault the place, especially the toilet and shower facilities which were absolutely tip top from start to finish. Everything was kept immaculate with spotless shower cubicles, clean toilets, fresh-smelling washrooms and a clear sense that the park is very well cared for and maintained to a high standard. The showers were consistently hot, powerful and comfortable to use, and even during busier times the facilities remained exceptionally clean and tidy. What really stood out though was the hospitality from the owner, who greeted me after closing time and still took the time to make me feel genuinely welcome. That level of warmth and friendliness immediately set the tone for the stay and made a lasting impression. You can tell there’s real pride put into both the park itself and the experience guests have while staying there. A brilliant caravan park with fantastic facilities and a very welcoming atmosphere throughout.

Great CL site in a Perfect location for stopovers to and from Scotland, easy access to Lake District and Penrith, we stayed 3 nights in June 2026, excellent toilet and shower facilities, perfect hosts and price of £30 per night including electric and hard standing fully service pitch. Very peaceful, slight road noise from M6 but nothing to keep you awake, working farm so no yapping dogs which was a bonus! We would Definitely stay there again. Thank you.

A lovely campsite - they have a CAMC CL, commercial caravan site and glamping options. Also a fantastic en-suite shower block which was much appreciated :-) All pitches are hard standing with water and electric on pitch. We stayed here 7 years ago and it was great then but it’s even better now. For a CL, it’s quite pricey but you’re definitely still getting excellent value for money.

Friendly owners. Amazing views. Immaculate facilities. Pitches were clean and tidy with well kept grass. We had a problem with our towing lights when leaving. The owners and other holiday makers couldnt help us enough.
