What guests say
Pros. Very accessible location, clean, good breakfast menu, although it had to be selected the day before. Cons. Very regimented, appalling noise from the room above ours, not the guests fault, just poor sound proofing and construction. (Noted by previous guests). Breakfast times Limited to 8-9 which is not good for those on business needing an early start or guests on holiday who want a leisurely start. The room had a damp feeling that wasn't helped by having to text to request the heating be put on. It was only on for ten minutes or so and turned off again. Having to do this is totally unacceptable especially when each radiator had a thermostat so if it was allowed on the guest could control it. Biggest issue was arriving after a long journey to be instructed to leave our luggage and follow the owner into the house to complete breakfast choices for the next day and listen to waffle when all we wanted was to use the toilet . This has been noted by a previous guest and was voiced by the guest above us who was pregnant and needed the facilities but had to go through the involuntary induction first. The husband in the team was very pleasant, the Wife needs to listen to her guests, stop making a break away feel like a military operation with her as the commander and realise that just because she has done it like that for 18 years it might need changing. FURTHER TO YOUR REPLY. Your response is unfortunately what was expected. Reflecting on the comments and accepting them is obviously something you are incapable of doing. The fact you call my comments impertinent means they hit a nerve as that would mean I wasn't showing you or your business proper respect. The heating. Why do you control it, the fair option would be to allow guests to control the temperature with the thermostats on the radiators, its not for you to decide when people will be feeling the cold. You didnt put the heating on as a reaction to the drop in temperature but to each text that had to be sent. The temperature in the room as documented by previous reviews was cold. Even the biscuits tasted damp. As part of your draconian ways you seem to feel its ok to comment on my attire on arrival. Yes I was wearing shorts, for a long car journey. What impact you think that has on your room temperature is beyond me. Perhaps guests should be prepared to wear thermals and a coat when staying. Your comments regarding the operation of hotels at reception. Hotels have toilet facilities in their reception area, do not require breakfast to be decided on immediately and rarely waffle. You run a guest house not a hotel. Having owned a hotel and been party to running others I believe my views are honest, researched and wasted on you, as too the reviews of other guests who stated the same. For your homework you can spend a night in that room when there are guests above. You may then appreciate how appalling the transfer of sound is. Please continue to reply as I am sure you will have to have the last word. I can also provide further reviews for other platforms should you wish.

We spent a lovely couple of nights at The Ginney recently. The room was first class, extremely clean, very comfortable beds and stylish decor. The breakfast was so tasty and we had everything we needed and more. The hosts were so friendly and very informative regarding the local area and places to eat. Would highly recommend. We stayed here 8th and 9th of August the hotel was in a nice place the room we stayed in was a family room and was nice. The breakfast had a great choice from cereal to a full English you choose the day before what you would like on the breakfast. The people looking after the guesthouse was wonderful people very pleasant. WiFi signal was good our daughter used it while we was there on her iPad We will definitely stay here again. Thank you Carl Rhiannon and evelyn

Currently here on a work trip in one of the holiday cottages and it is fantastic. Daisy cottage is lovely and comfortable. The owners are friendly and have been very helpful. The access to the m6 has been fantastic for all the trips around the various offices i have been visiting all week, and the local back lanes and villages have been amazing for the afternoons out on my ebike... and it's only a mile or so off national cycle route 7. 15 minutes drive from Ullswater; The A66 for Keswick and the A66 is one junction away on the m6 and it's a quick 30-40 minute jaunt up the motorway into scotland, so your midnight elope into gretna is also easy! If im ever back up this way again, I'd be more than happy to stay here again. Having a little patio to eat breakfast on in the morning with the sheep has been amazing. The choice between being here and being stuck in the local Penrith travelodge is no choice at all!
