We arrived, two travelers in our mid-60s, with two heavy bags, to discover the lift out of operation. Our room was on the second floor. We had no idea about the layout of the building(s) - that it's a maze of narrow stairs and long corridors snaking from section to section. The desk attendant, rather than volunteering, "we'll have your bags brought up," said, "it's up to you, there's someone who can bring your bags if that's what you want." In no position to know any better, we started off on our own. Five minutes later we were still lugging our bags up stairs, sweating profusely. Honestly, Salutation Hotel: just have your staff carry older travelers' heavy luggage when your lift is out. Especially if you're putting them in a remote part of the hotel on an upper floor, as you did us. Our building was noticeably stuffier and warmer than the main building containing reception and the restaurants. And our room was warmer and stuffier still. Opening the windows did nothing to cool the room. A staff member did bring a small fan upon request, which we appreciated. The room was clean and the beds comfortable - though sleeping in the warm space was not easy.

Good location in old part of town, 15 minute walk from station. Convenient for shops, pubs and cultural attractions. Very shambling hotel over several floors and buildings - try not to get lost! Room was in need of complete renovation and F&F dated and showing their age. Clean but not sparkling. Bar and restaurant nice feel and good range of fare.

We are members of kincaidston @ Belmont outdoor bowling club in ayrshire.this is the first time we have stayed there.from the time we phoned to book till the time we left it was a wonderful experience.What a lovely hotel,a bit dated but remember how old the building is. The rooms were very good and clean. The staff are second to none we were made welcome from the time we arrived till the time we left , we had a couple of disabled people with us and they were treated like royalty. We cannot fault anything about this hotel and we said we would be happy to highly recommend to everyone. Keep up the good work. THANK YOU ALL Kimcaidston@belmont bowling club First time

I booked the hotel for a weekend break for our 3rd wedding anniversary and it was absolutely brilliant.The hotel staff are very helpful and courteous.The hotel is old,but it still has plenty of character and is kept nice and clean.The breakfasts are absolutely delicious with a wide variety of food.The bar area is nice and quiet where you can enjoy a few drinks and relax without having to shout back and fourth.Our room was nice and spacious,but due to the heat over the weekend I ended up sleeping on top of the duvet to cool me down during the night.The lift was out of order,but that didn't hinder us at all.Will we return to this hotel.........DEFINITELY.Is it worth the money?............DEFINITELY. So,on behalf of myself and my wife Jo,we would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all the staff for making our weekend really special.I really am truly grateful. We will see you in October for the Abba weekend 🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊 Thank you all once again 🙏
