About Middlehead Huts
Tucked away just outside Pickering, Middlehead Huts offers three ensuite shepherd's huts complete with private hot tubs — a cosy, well-equipped base for exploring North Yorkshire's moors and market towns. Each hut welcomes dogs, so four-legged friends can join you for soaks under the stars after a day tramping the hills or pottering around nearby Pickering's shops and steam railway.
The site stays open year-round and provides all the essentials — WiFi, showers, drinking water — in a peaceful, family-friendly setting. It's not a sprawling campsite with endless facilities, but that's rather the point: three thoughtfully kitted-out huts where you can unwind properly between adventures, whether you're tackling the North York Moors or simply craving a quiet retreat with a hot tub on tap.

What visitors say
This was the second time at Middlehead Cottages, both in Brock Cottage. The location is great, very peaceful and great walks for our dog. The cottage is clean, comfortable and has everything you would want. The "welcome" items are much appreciated. Staff are friendly and helpful. Hot tub is great. We spent some time fishing and caught Tench and Carp. The real bonus was to catch one of the Sturgeon (twice). We called it Nicola, but apparently it is known as "Steve". It is a hard fighter, and weight looks to be 10lb+. Long and thin so bring a decent landing net. Caught on a 12mm pellet hair rig near the lily pads. All in all, a lovely place. It was 4 years between our visits, hopefully less next time!

Middlehead cottages are in a beautiful, remote location in the North Riding Forest Park. Brock Cottage was very comfortable (including the beds), spacious, clean and well-equipped. We loved the outdoor decked area and made good use of the hot tub. A great base for walking and exploring the Moors. We had booked the Hanging Stones walk, from Rosedale Abbey, which was fabulous. I would highly recommend these cottages (and the shepherds' huts looked good, too)!

We had a fantastic stay at the cottage. It's deep in the countryside, in such a beautiful, peaceful location. The cottage itself was clean and very comfortable, and tastefully decorated. We had everything we needed. We were welcomed on arrival and the owners were helpful when we had questions and very relaxed about everything. Chatting in the hot tub, watching the house martins swoop around at dusk was rather wonderful. A super place for a relaxing break.

We stayed in the Old Farm House and this was our third visit. We have also stayed on one of the other cottages. Middlehead never fails to deliver on comfort and cleanliness. A coffee machine, lovely bed linens, towels and robes make this experience extra special. This is the perfect place to unwind and let nature do its thing. The location is incredible. You will be planning your next stay before you leave.
