About Pine Trees Hotel

Pine Trees Hotel is a nineteenth-century country house set in several acres of mature gardens and woodland on the edge of Pitlochry, within easy walking distance of the main street. The house retains much of its original character, with wood-panelled public rooms and a wide staircase, alongside more modern bedroom wings in the grounds.

The hotel's restaurant serves a menu built around Scottish produce, including game and fish from the surrounding region, and its bar and lounge areas open onto the gardens in summer. Grounds include mature trees, lawns and a walled garden, giving the hotel a settled, established feel.

Its combination of quiet gardens with genuine proximity to Pitlochry's shops, theatre and station makes Pine Trees a popular choice for guests who want a country hotel atmosphere without needing a car to reach the town centre.

We stayed for one night and had dinner and breakfast. The hotel and room itself was immaculate as it has recently been refurbished. I think our room was an upgrade as it wasn't in the main building as expected (we'd booked a Coorie room). The room was bigger but we'd prefer to be in the main building next time as I think the sound proofing and light would've been better. The staff are all warm and friendly - and do their best but overall service needs to improve, especially at breakfast. The food, both dinner and breakfast was disappointing considering the reviews. We don't like making a fuss and didn't want to spoil our happy and chilled mood by sending food back or complaining. It was edible just not overly enjoyable. There were corners definitely cut with the ingredients and preparation. We would however return and just not book a meal. The hotel is in a great location and the interior and staff made it a relaxing and comfortable stay with a feeling of luxury. I feel the service will improve with time.

We have stayed here twice now and love this place. Special mention to the manager Martina who has checked us in twice late at night and always been so friendly and welcoming - she is an absolute credit to the hotel. The second time we had no reservation as we were unable to travel to our original destination due to bad weather, however she very kindly sorted us out with a room. The rooms are beautifully appointed and it’s very dog friendly. Pine Trees will always be our top choice for staying in Pitlochry.

We stayed in Evergreen 41, a wonderfully spacious and plush room adjacent to the main property, with an excellent bed, a great bathroom and shower, and a walk-in closet. The main building is beautiful and well appointed, nice decor without being overly ornate. The bar and restaurant are good, and Jamie, the Food & Beverage Manager, works hard to keep both humming, with excellent recommendations on drinks and food (he’s also featured on the hotel's journal writing about local whisky) and Rua and Ewan round out a great bar team. But the grounds and the garden are the star. A serene, gorgeous English - ahem - Scottish garden. I was lucky enough to spend a couple of hours on the terrace one evening, enjoying the mist with a cigar and some wonderful drams, attended by Ewan, excellent company throughout. Every one of the staff works hard to make you comfortable. Sophie and Rohan were particularly helpful, and Robyn made check-in so kind and welcoming. If you're in Pitlochry, this is a special place to spend a few nights, a true special escape in an already lovely and quaint little village. I would return again and again.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, July 8-10. Super cute hotel! Love the entrance and property. The building is gorgeous! Staff is friendly and helpful. Room was great, very comfortable bed and pillows, great shower pressure and towels. Breakfast menu is limited, but has a good selection for continental options. We had dinner 1 night, the weather had warmed up and the dining room was about 90 F degrees, they finally opened some windows to let cooler outside air in. No elevator or air conditioning (ac not expected), odd stairs layout as typical in older buildings, had multiple windows to cross ventilate our room, and a fan was provided without requesting. I would absolutely stay here again, and recommend to anyone looking to venture out into the highlands from a quaint, quiet, central location.
