About Invicta Hotel
The Invicta Hotel occupies a Grade II listed building on Osborne Place, off Lockyer Street on Plymouth Hoe, originally built as traders' houses in 1840 before being converted into a hotel later in the Victorian era. Its independent ownership and boutique scale set it apart from the larger branded hotels nearby, with a Georgian townhouse feel that has been carefully maintained through refurbishment.
Bedrooms are individually decorated, mixing period features such as high ceilings and sash windows with contemporary furnishings, smart TVs with streaming services and good-quality bathrooms. A complimentary cooked or continental breakfast is included, served in the hotel's dining room, and there is a lounge and bar for guests in the evening.
The hotel also runs event space for up to 70 guests, making it a popular choice for smaller weddings and private functions alongside its regular trade of leisure and business guests. On-site parking is available for a modest nightly charge, a useful feature given how limited street parking can be around the Hoe.
Its position just off Lockyer Street puts the seafront, the Barbican, the city centre and Plymouth Pavilions and Theatre Royal all within a few minutes' walk, making the Invicta a strong base for a short break built around exploring on foot. It suits couples and independent travellers who prefer a smaller, personally run hotel with real character over a larger international brand.

What guests say
A beautiful, calming hotel in a fantastic location by the Hoe. I stayed with my daughter, who’s a uni student in Plymouth, and we loved how much character the building has — especially the blue plaque on the front that shares its history. Our twin room had a lovely view of the Hoe and the Naval Memorial, and breakfast was very tasty. The staff were incredibly friendly and polite throughout — a special shout‑out to Ruth and Donna, who were an absolute pleasure to meet. Thank you both for your kindness and for making our stay truly memorable. We’ll definitely be back soon.

Basic but great. Upgraded somewhat since last years visit but basic room furniture could be better (damaged vanity and badly sloping bedside table). Breakfast fantastic, all staff are wonderful. Easy parking. Very comfy bed.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, as the room and everything else was very nice. Most importantly, the staff are lovely and very helpful. I accidently left my passport at the hotel and they were kind enough to put it away safely and post it out to me. I could not be more appreciative of their help. Highly recommend!

Our room was spotlessly clean, the bed and bedding were really comfortable. The shower was strong. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel is located very close to Plymouth’s main attractions. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
