About OYO Plymouth Central

New George Street runs through the heart of Plymouth, a short stretch from the docks and the city's seafaring landmarks, and OYO Plymouth Central sits among the shops and eateries here, giving guests an easy base for exploring the surrounding water and coastline without needing a car.

Rooms are straightforward and unfussy, each with an en-suite bathroom, free Wi-Fi, and drinks available in-room. Family and accessible rooms are also on offer, and a lift serves the building. Breakfast is served in the on-site restaurant, and there's no parking at the property itself, so those arriving by car should plan accordingly.

Beyond the front door, Plymouth offers plenty to fill a stay: golf, fishing and watersports nearby, along with pubs, restaurants and entertainment within easy reach, plus good walking and cycling routes around the city and coast. It's a no-frills stay best suited to those who want a convenient spot to sleep and explore rather than a destination in itself.

Shout out to Derek Fox reception staff whose customer service was impeccable, welcoming and all round fantastic with us and all other guests. He was helpful, always had a smile 😃 Largest hotel room we've ever stayed in within the UK, Europe and internationally. Fridge, kettle and microwave provided which was great as breakfast had run out by 0845am on both days so get there early as. Great location to reach every part of the city. Only downside are those who congregate out the entrance who are in large groups it can seem intimidating but most staff are empathic towards the needs of the community and reassuring of your safety 😉

I would strongly advise anyone thinking of staying here to look elsewhere. Our experience was nothing short of a nightmare, and we will certainly not be returning. The only slight positive is that the rooms are a decent size; however, that is completely overshadowed by the unbearable living conditions. The room was incredibly hot because none of the windows could be opened, and to make matters worse, the air conditioning was broken and dripped water onto the floor all night long. The cleanliness is non-existent. The beds and mattresses were filthy and covered in visible stains. Beyond the hygiene, the environment is entirely unsafe for families. The hotel seems to be housing a dangerous crowd, including drug users and alcoholics, making it a completely inappropriate place to bring children. The food situation was equally appalling. The breakfast selection is never replenished, and we witnessed them cooking bacon in a microwave. Worst of all, the food made my child ill. While there are two members of staff who are actually helpful and seem to care, they are the only exception in an otherwise incompetent team. This place is neglected and unsafe. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

I was here for four months in total with my son. 5 stars go to the staff alone. Always friendly, Always happy to help. My daughter still misses Sarah for the breakfast lounge. Yes it can be noisy in there from time to time but never had any trouble with other geusts. Most of them was happy. For a chat. Only complaint would be lack of windows but for the location and layout you can see why most rooms dont have them. Staff went oht of the way to make my children's Christmas and birthdays a little extra special. Thank you for every thing.
