About Copthorne Hotel Plymouth
Copthorne Hotel Plymouth suits travellers who want a reliable, central base rather than anything flashy - whether that's a work trip, a weekend exploring the city, or a stopover near the station and university. With 135 rooms spread across five floors, it's a sizeable hotel that copes well with different types of stay, and the location means Plymouth Hoe and the Elizabethan House are both within easy walking distance.
Rooms are clean and comfortable, generally on the spacious side, and come with practical extras such as fridges and fans - useful, since some rooms can run warm. Breakfast is a highlight, with a good variety on offer, and the hotel also has a restaurant, bar and snack bar for other meals, plus room service and packed lunches for those heading out early. A gym, business services and meeting rooms add to its appeal for work travellers, and accessible rooms are available.
Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the hotel is generally seen as good value for the setting. On-site parking is available for a charge, and the surrounding area offers golf, fishing, watersports and plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby for evenings out.
What guests say
We had a wedding celebration at Copthorne Hotel Plymouth on 18 July 2026, and it was an amazing experience. A huge thank you to Charlie, the Event Coordinator, for his professionalism, support, and attention to detail from start to finish. He made the whole process smooth and stress-free. Thanks also to all the hotel staff for their hard work and excellent service in making our day so special. We truly appreciate everything you did. Highly recommended -Immad

Hotel is just off one of the main roundabouts in Plymouth city centre. It is a concrete 1950s/60s structure, and could do with some attention to the exterior to make it look less utilitarian eastern bloc! We had one of their so-called 'club' rooms, but it was difficult to see any touches of luxury apart from robes that were hanging in the wardrobe. The entirety of the room was simply painted white, the bed was hard as a board, the 'free drinks' in the fridge consisted of 2 small bottles of water and 2 cans of coke. No aircon, but there was a roof fan, which was OK but no doubt this would be ineffective when the sun comes out. The food was ok for the price, although the restaurant was fully booked due to buses of German tourists arriving, so we had to eat in the bar. The area around the hotel is very run down, not great for walking to decent restaurants. For that you would need to drive or get a taxi down to the Barbican. Drinks at the bar were fairly standard, pints were c£6. One positive is that the staff were pleasant and efficient, so no complaints there. I wouldn't stay again unless it received a major renovation as there were much better hotels at a similar price available.

Staff were friendly and helpful The outside temperature was mid 20s. The room was far warmer. The windows only open 15mm (1.5cm not a typo). There is no ventilation in the room and the windows are kept closed with the curtains open so the room absorbs all the heat. I was unable to sleep properly despite having the desk fan on full and repeated cold showers.

Great hotel. Nice location. Comfortable beds. No air conditioning. Extra fan in cupboard. Good extension cord which in my case was able to get my CPAP machine closer to the bed. Great buffet breakfast with good variety of food.
