About Lady Hamilton Public House B&B

Guests at Lady Hamilton Public House B&B walk straight into an en-suite room above a lively gastropub, with family rooms available, free WiFi and drinks laid on for those who fancy a nightcap without heading back downstairs. It's a simple, unfussy setup rather than a boutique stay, but everything needed for a short break is there, including 24 hour reception and luggage storage if you're arriving early or leaving late.

Downstairs, the pub itself is the heart of the place: a small, brightly painted red and white room with warm, traditional decor, serving roast dinners alongside the usual pub fare, plus breakfast to set guests up for the day. There's a bar on site and a snack bar too, so there's little need to wander far for food or a drink.

The address on The Hard puts guests close to Portsmouth's dockyard and within reach of the Spinnaker Tower, with plenty of other pubs, bars and restaurants nearby. Walking routes, fishing and watersports are all within easy distance, and some rooms make the most of the location with sea views.

I stayed here recently and the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The room itself was good, clean, comfortable and exactly what you’d expect for the price. The staff were genuinely friendly which made things smoother. Plus the location is spot on, only a short walk from Gunwharf Quays, so perfect if you’re out exploring or shopping. Now for the not-so-sexy part. The bathroom desperately needs a revamp. Parts of it were mouldy, the plastic gaskets and mouldings were brown and cracked, and overall it just didn’t feel clean. The contrast between the clean bedroom and the bathroom was pretty jarring to be honest. Also worth noting that check-in was actually in a different hotel, which was unexpected and a bit awkward after a long journey. Decent stay, great staff, good room, but the bathroom lets it down badly. If they sort that out, it could be a much better experience. 💁‍♀️

Whilst visiting Gunwhalf quay we always have lunch here. Great food and beer . They do a daily roast, three different meats and three different sizes. Good honest home made food. Really friendly staff would definitely recommend to any one .

If we are visiting Gunwhalf quay we always have lunch here. Good beer and the food is amazing. They do a daily roast, three different meats and three different sizes. Good honest home made food for an excellent price, £34 for two, with two rounds of drinks 🥳

Fab lunchtime visit. Had a cider with their super tasty sweet & sour chicken inc rice & peas. Came to about £15 in total. Food was delicious. Really nice people in there too - got chatting away with the 3 ladies who were working, the lad in kitchen seemed nice too, as were the local fellas who came in. Definitely a pub I'd visit regularly if I lived in Pompey. I come to area quite regularly so will definitely be back. Many thanks & keep up the good work.
