Horsey Gap beach is a beautiful place, far away from crowds. The beach is long and perfect for walks, and at the same time you have the opportunity to connect with nature. It’s a beach where you can stand and admire the seals for hours. Right now it’s the season when they have their pups, which makes the scenes even more magical and perfect for photos and videos. I’m giving it 4 stars: here’s why. This was our second time visiting Horsey Gap beach to see the seals. This time, because it was pupping season, there were volunteers looking after the seals, which is truly commendable. The weather wasn’t very good it was windy and sometimes rainy, yet they were still there, making sure the mothers and pups were undisturbed. What we didn’t like was that there were many dead seals, skeletons as well as freshly deceased bodies, and some with visible blood, which was quite distressing. Such deceased animals should be removed promptly to keep the beach clean and at a proper standard. That’s why I’m giving 4 stars. No doubt this is place worth to visit 🤗

I’d always heard good things about this place but I never expected it to be this good! I visited at the end of August, so I was expecting it to be really busy! Especially since the seals were there with their pups. There was parking, and it was reasonably priced, we managed to get a space. It’s not far to walk to the beach at all. You have to walk past a little shop selling food & drinks. There are toilets there too which is handy. The beach is dog friendly and honestly, most dog owners kept them on their lead, so it was a pleasant experience. No chaos, thankfully, as I have two little puppies and it’s usually a worry for me to keep them safe from disobedient dogs which may turn nasty. I felt really safe walking with them and most people was friendly. Land puppies got to meet sea puppies for the first time and it was really magical to see all of the seals with their babies. Everyone kept their distance which was nice to see, they respected the animals. The beach was really clean, even though it was peak summer time I guess, which made for an even better experience. Dog friendly, and there was a few bins around to make it easy. I would feel comfortable coming here again, even in busy times as there is nothing to worry about.

I had been hoping to spot a few seals lounging on the sand or resting close to the water’s edge or even swiming near the shore line, but was not to be, the real highlight was watching them appear one by one from the sea. What began as a quick stop soon turned into an easy hour spent on the beach, quietly taking in the scene. With a packed lunch, I could have happily stayed for two or three hours more, simply enjoying the seals, the fresh air, and the beautiful view, i even managed to get some great photos.

Seals in Horsey Gap, Norfolk The largest wild grey seal colonies in the UK. In reality they are different colours: from almost black to light grey, with spots or not. About over 3,000 pups born annually. The little pups are rather big now, but due to that you can go just on the beach for spotting much closer. I watched a great volunteers’ work saving seals and pups.
