The Brecon Beacons and open moorland of Mid Wales surround this traditional stone cottage, down a quiet country lane in Llanafan Fawr. Red kites and buzzards are everyday sights here. Builth Wells, a market town with pubs, restaurants and the Royal Welsh Showground, lies 6 miles away. Elan Valley's reservoirs and dams are 15 miles off, and Hay-on-Wye's literary festival is 35 minutes' drive. Most importantly, you can walk straight out into the countryside from the property.
Pen Y Crug has three bedrooms and one bathroom across two floors. Downstairs there is a living room with a wood burner and smart TV, a dining room, and a kitchen fitted with a Rayburn, electric hob, dishwasher and washing machine. Upstairs are two double beds (each 4ft 6in) and a single, with the third bedroom accessed via a narrow staircase from the second. One bathroom with a walk-in shower serves the property. A large enclosed garden with patio, furniture and barbecue provides outdoor space. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome at no extra charge, and you have private parking for two cars on site. No smoking inside.
The setting suits walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers. The surrounding terrain is rural and can be steep in places; the access to the third bedroom involves a narrow staircase.

Nice walk from the back road where there is a lay by to park, unfortunately it was full of tons of gravel at this time. The ferns cover most of the hill in the summer which can be upto 5feet high. Once you get to the summit, and on a clear day, the views are amazing, with the walk.

Lovely walk up through houses and then over a number of styles and fields of sheep and cattle to the top. It was very windy on the top for us but lovely views and just beyond we found a nice out of the wind place to stop and rest.

A fantastic 331m hill Northwest of Brecon and North of the Central Brecon Beacons mountains. Absolutely superb views of Pen y Fan et al and a wonderful place to photograph the sweep of this mountain range. The hill itself is topped by a unique trig point and the remains of an impressive hill fort. Well worth the walk up from Brecon, just try and catch it on a day when you have views of the mountains and you won't be disappointed.
