Shepherds Retreat - Sweet Briar

Photo: Barbora Šebestová

Bannau Brycheiniog National Park spreads across the landscape around Brecon, with Llangorse Lake—the largest natural lake in South Wales—close by. The area draws walkers, cyclists and paddleboarders; Pen y Fan, the park's highest peak, is within reach for a day's hike. Dark skies make for stargazing on clear nights. Two pubs and a shop serve the village itself.

Shepherds Retreat – Sweet Briar is a detached hut sleeping two in a double bed. The single open-plan space combines living and sleeping areas, with a woodburner for warmth. You'll find a kitchen (gas cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer) and shower room with cubicle and toilet outside the hut; these are shared with other properties on the site. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included. A sitting area and garden furniture occupy the grounds, with parking for one car on site.

One dog or cat stays free. No smoking inside. The Black Mountains, birdwatching spots and the Llangorse Crannog Centre—which documents ancient lake dwellings—are all within the area; Brecon town is a short drive away.

What a hidden gem of a glamping spot! Such a cute shepherds hut, well equipped with outdoor kitchen and fire pit, so secluded, located within amazing nature, fields, woods, streams... Only sheep around, and the lovely host only checked in if all good and we had a nice chat, then enjoyed ourselves in total privacy. Thank you!
