What visitors say
Reallocation and vibes. Cinema seating feels a little dated when compared to Odeon now. But generally great experience. Watched Project Hail Mary. Excellent movie.

Visited on a week day. There was a decent number of people in the viewing and plenty of space. Comfortable seats with ample leg room. Even had a glass of wine. Lovely!🍷

To start, the good: the screen itself was comfortable, the seats were well positioned for a great view of the screen, and the air conditioning was welcome on a very warm day. Unfortunately, that is all the good I can say about our experience. We went on 29/07, the release day for Spiderman: Brand New Day. The cinema was busy as we expected, but the staff were rude and unhelpful across the board, far beyond the leeway I would have given for them having a busy day. Having bought our tickets online, we went to buy snacks for the screening and were treated like an inconvenience by the person serving us, who walked off for a few minutes halfway through serving us. Then, when we went to go in, we had our tickets scanned by the host at the entrance and were asked to wait in the foyer for them to finish cleaning the screen. This was at 8:20 when the film was due to start at 8:25. We thought, given how busy it was, this was probably just a symptom of the day. We waited until 8:30, at which point I went up again and asked how long it would be—worried that the film being delayed would cost me extra in parking. We were told another 5–10 mins. Eventually, at 8:40, we were told we could enter, and at this point, my ticket was scanned again. We then went into Screen 4 as instructed, only to find the seats I'd booked didn't exist in this particular screen. I went back out to query this and was told, "Oh, you're the 8:25? That's in Screen 1." They had checked my tickets 3 times at this point. When I pointed this out, I simply got a shrug of the shoulders and was told, "We're busy," as if it were a replacement for an apology. We got into Screen 1 just as the film was starting, and my partner had to run to the toilet (missing the start of the film, I might add) and fell on the last step on the way out, hurting her leg, meaning she spent the whole film in a great deal of pain. On the way out after the film, I noticed the step she fell on had the edge taped with black tape, meaning it was near impossible to see in the dark conditions, making it downright dangerous. I hoped to raise this with someone on the way out, but there were available no staff to be seen in the foyer. I am a regular customer of the Vue in Oxford, and a firm believer that the cinema is the best way to experience a film, but this experience was so poor, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Film was good. Seeing a film on the big screen is always nice and I think the staff are doing their best. But the facilities at Vue Reading are looking very worn out. The cinema needs a refurb. Its not clean, everything especially the seats felt dirty.

People say this cinema offers a good variety of movies across many screens, with comfortable and spacious seating. They also highlight the friendly and helpful staff, as well as the cost-effective prices.
Some reviews mention the cinema can be poorly maintained.
