About Best Western Reading Calcot Hotel
A generous breakfast spread and a bar and restaurant on site give Best Western Reading Calcot Hotel a head start with guests, many of whom single out the food and the helpfulness of staff as the best reasons to stay. There's also a snack bar, packed lunches for early starts, and kids' meals for family stays, alongside room service for anyone who'd rather not leave their room.
The hotel has 80 rooms spread across two floors, including family and accessible options, all with en-suite bathrooms. Some rooms show their age and upkeep can be patchy in places, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly rather than booking for a luxury finish. Outside, there's a garden with outdoor seating, useful for a quiet coffee or a break from meetings, as the hotel also offers business services and meeting rooms for those travelling for work.
Set on Bath Road with free on-site parking and straightforward access to the M4, it suits both business trips and stopovers near Reading. Golf, fishing and horse riding are all available nearby, and there are further pubs and restaurants within easy reach for evenings out.

We felt extremely welcomed by all the staff. This (and the food) was the highlight of our stay! Please compliment them. The cleanliness of the hotel was first class, in general. The breakfast was very high quality with lots of choice. Thank you for a great stay! 🐝

Amit behind the bar is very friendly and helpful, really cheery personality. Chris in the kitchen is great to talk to, always makes sure everything is to your liking. The reception staff are very welcoming, the prices are cheaper than the local area. Highly recommend, their function nights are brilliant.

Stayed at the hotel on 13th of May. Restaurant was very busy with just one staff member on the floor and one in the kitchen, but even with this the service was spot on, Amit was amazing on both the bar and serving us in the restaurant and the Chef Chris cooked us some lovely food while he was still busy with multiple orders. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. Some of the best service I’ve received.

We had an unfortunate experience as we were staying for two nights and for our first evening three quarters of the dinner menu was unavailable which was a surprise as they were aware a group were coming so could have got provisions in. We had to go to a local restaurant to eat. Breakfast was being prepared by a charming gentleman but he was unable to cope with the few folk and there was a long wait for eggs. Staff were very pleasant, however the room was very basic and due to the above we would not return to this hotel.
