The valleys around Treorchy put you at the heart of South Wales' outdoor action. Afan Argoed Forestry Park, rated among the world's top ten mountain biking destinations, is on the doorstep. The Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains rise to the north, offering serious walking terrain. Bike Park Wales, Margam Country Park with its castle and narrow gauge railway, and the Gower Peninsula's beaches are all within an hour's drive. Treorchy itself, named Village of the Year, has independent shops, cafés and pubs within a short distance, and Ystrad Rhondda railway station is a two-minute walk away for trains into Cardiff.

River Lodge Annexe is a recently converted two-bedroom property sleeping four, with a double bed in the main bedroom, a three-quarter double in the second, and a single on the landing. Downstairs, an open-plan living space combines living, dining and kitchen areas, with patio doors opening onto a garden with sitting-out space and furniture. You get a shower room, separate toilet, and utility room with washing machine. Gas heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included, along with parking for one car on site. No smoking throughout.
