The Jane Austen Experience

This was a fun experience! Really loved how we had our own Eleanor as a guide - she was so helpful and it was interesting to learn about Jane Austen and her family. Loved dressing up and the ink writing room. It’s short but sweet and would recommend for Austen fans!

Amazing place with wonderful people! 🤩 As a Jane Austen fan, I absolutely loved this experience. It brings Jane Austen’s world to life in such a charming way. One of the most delightful aspects of the experience is that the staff portray different characters from Austen’s novels, which really brings her stories to life. My guide was the lovely Elinor Dashwood (she never revealed her name to protect the magic of the experience!)❤️ Overall, I had a fantastic time and left with an even greater appreciation for Jane Austen and her stories. Highly recommended!⭐️

As diehard Jane Austen fans, we were delighted to visit this brand new attraction here in London. We had previously visited the sister site in Bath, and this one has many of the same basic details about Austen's life and culture, regency era dress-ups, and another wax figure of Austen, but not nearly as many costumes and artifacts from Austen adaptations, etc, so it might not be necessary to do both if you're short on time. If you can't make it to Bath, though, then this is a great way to get a taste of what both sites have to offer. I hope that this London site will slowly be able to add more of those fun extras that we enjoyed perusing in Bath. One nice display here that was not at the Bath Centre is a large map of London with all the sites significant to Austen or mentioned in her books. I took a picture so that we could find and visit some of them, and my husband mentioned afterwards that he'd love to see old pictures of those spots in Austen's day to contrast with what is there today. Maybe an idea for how to expand this exhibition even further? We'll definitely be back next time we visit London in a few years and look forward to seeing what they've added! We loved our tour guide, "Emma Woodhouse," who gave us a lovely presentation and was extra kind to my special needs daughter as we moved through the rooms. Her enthusiasm for all things Austen was contagious, and our family of Janeites felt like we'd met a kindred spirit. The whole experience is clearly designed and run by people who love Miss Austen. We did not stay more than an hour or so, but it was the perfect way to celebrate my daughter's 15th birthday abroad! I also highly recommend visiting here before a visit out to Chawton Cottage. We were quite disappointed by the lack of context and background information provided at Jane Austen's house, and the introductory presentation here did a much better job of giving an overview of Austen's family, life, and writing career.

We visited at the end April and we had the most wonderful time. We had been to the Bath location and so were very excited about this one. We went first thing Monday morning, it was just us three and three other guests. Mr Bennet gave us the intro and the guided tour, he was truly awesome! So attentive and spoke to us for ages about Jane Austen and answered all our questions. The other staff we met were equally just as lovely and helpful. The gift shop is delightful! I only wish there were a few more things to see because we had such a wonderful time and wanted to spend more there. Excited to go back!
