What visitors say
had a ton of fun riding around the park with my instructor keira!! we got on really well, and the conversation made the heatwave much more bearable. not to mention everyone i encountered at the yard was lovely. probably one of the nicest hacking experiences of my life because i got to have a good chat on top of the fun ride! some people might hesitate to book a solo hack for fear of awkwardness but i can say that the people here are extremely pleasant and the entire process from booking to getting in the saddle is straightforward. once you get into the park there’s plenty to see and talk about. the horses are very used to the wildlife, children, and bikes in the park. they’re trustworthy but not dull, which is really nice for a confidence boost or a first ride. not to mention they’re sweet!

Having been riding at Stag Lodge Stables at Robin Hood Gate since 2004—and having had lessons at Stag 2—it remains a place I truly love riding, whether off-track in the summer or on track in the winter months. But what makes riding here especially meaningful are Grace J and Chelsea. The yard and staff always have not just the riders experience in mind, but also keep the health and wellbeing of their horses paramount. Chelsea greets everyone, new or regular, with such genuine warmth and cheer. She has a natural way of making you feel welcome, seen, and at ease, and her friendly presence before and after my Friday rides always enhances the experience. She's so helpful and thoughtful, and is a main reason I come back year-on-year. Grace J is also a fantastic instructor—kind, intuitive, and knowledgeable. She’s friendly, understanding and poised, and makes every ride out a joy, and she’ll always tailor the ride to you depending on what you’re in the mood for that day. She also offers constructive guidance, if you ask for feedback. Riding out with her each week is always a highlight. Together, Grace J and Chelsea have made my Friday morning ritual of riding at Stag Lodge—something I always look forward to anyway—even more enjoyable and special. Thank you both!

Had a fantastic ride on Nutmeg and some friends with Alex leading us. The area around Richmond you ride in is very pretty and I loved seeing the deer with the stags. The horses were very well behaved and chilled but we also had some nice canters.

We had such an amazing experience! Our instructors, Keira and Holly, were absolutely fantastic. They really tailored the session to what we wanted to get out of the ride, whether it was simply enjoying the experience or receiving more coaching and training. We thought that personal approach was a really nice touch. We got along with them so well and had such a lovely chat throughout the ride while exploring the beautiful Richmond Park. They made us feel comfortable, welcome, and ensured we had an unforgettable experience. We’ll definitely be coming back for another ride. A special shout-out to Keira and Holly for making the whole experience extra special. Thank you both!
