Beautiful day out! The wetland centre is incredibly fun with lots of different types of birds and a few animals. At 11am and 2pm, the otters will be out of feeding and there's a talk that I highly recommend. It was a soggy day when I went but it was still fun! The cafe is great with friendly staff, although the meal kitchen was already closed at 3pm (there were still cold sandwiches and wraps to eat). The gift shop is a danger to my wallet to be honest. There's also a section near the reedbed cafe with donated books you can pick up (w a recommended monetary donation) that had some good finds.

I was so positively surprised by the London Wetland Centre. I wasn’t expecting it to be quite so beautiful! The whole site is incredibly well kept, with immaculate paths, stunning gardens, and peaceful lakes full of wildlife. It’s a wonderful place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse yourself in nature. Everything is clearly cared for, from the habitats to the visitor facilities, making the experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re a keen birdwatcher or simply looking for a relaxing walk in beautiful surroundings, this place is well worth a visit. I left feeling refreshed and already looking forward to coming back.

Brilliant place to visit, with one side of the site more of a visitor attraction with otters and lots of non-native birds, while the other side is more of a classic bird reserve. Lots of facilities and seemed very accessible. Join a guided walk if you're not a super experienced birdwatcher, and you can hire binoculars for a fiver (with a £50 deposit that gets returned).

Wonderful venue near Barnes. An oasis of calm, apart from the endless flights to Heathrow. But they don’t spoil the tranquility of the place if you just ignore them. Great for children. And bird and insect spotting. Lovely walks, play areas for children, otter talks by the absolutely lovely Otter keeper, Magda** (who is so sweet that she even gave an Otter book to me and my children on Father’s Day 2025), and very well equipped hides. A wonderful place to visit at any time of the year but especially Spring and Autumn. **My kids and I last went there on 14 February 2026 to see Magda but sadly she was not working that day. Hope she is still working there because she is a total asset to the place. As are the lovely ladies who I think helped my children plant some plants as part of a Mud themed day. Just a totally wonderful place that is refreshingly free of tech and “rides”. Children pastimes are wholesome and educational not techy or rip off. The first time I visited, it was a no brainer price wise to take out a family membership and I am so glad I did. 2 parents and up to 6 kids can enter. And there are others WWT venues around the country. The shop is excellent too and the little restaurant is OK albeit inevitably pricey. We tend to take packed lunch and enjoy it on the terrace by the restaurant. Love the place. My kids love it too. Very few tourists seem to know about the place I think. Which is kind of a bonus as it would be overrun if people knew how good it is.
