Pickdick Stable

Photo: Jacqueline Thompson

Rye and the surrounding Rother countryside offer plenty to explore—medieval cobbled streets, nature reserves, beaches at Camber seven miles away, and castles inland. Pickdick Stable sits within its owners' grounds in a rural spot surrounded by woodland, converted from an old hop farm building and now a self-contained base for two people. A step leads down from the entrance to the open-plan ground floor, where the living space includes a TV and DVD player, a kitchen fitted with an oven, induction hob, dishwasher and washing machine, and a bathroom with bath and separate shower. Upstairs, a galleried bedroom holds a double bed.

The terrace comes with garden furniture and a BBQ; there is parking for two cars on site. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. The village of Brede is nearby, and the Cinque Port towns of Rye and Winchelsea are within reach for galleries, tea rooms and afternoon walks. Rye Harbour Nature Reserve lies closer for birdwatching. A shop, pub and restaurant are two miles away. No smoking indoors.
