The Challoners

The Challoners consists of a shepherd hut and separate lodge, both yours alone for the duration of your stay. Everything is on the ground floor. The shepherd hut contains the bedroom with a double bed and an ensuite bathroom featuring a roll-top bath with shower attachment. The lodge houses the living space—open plan, with a corner sofa, books, games and a walk-in shower room. Both cabins have underfloor heating throughout.

The kitchen is equipped for self-catering, with an electric cooker, microwave and fridge. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. There is no television, which suits those wanting to step back from screens. The real draw is the enclosed garden: a private hideaway with a curved stone seat, covered picnic table, barbecue and fire pit. You can bring one dog at no extra cost, and there is parking for two cars on site.

The property sits in the East Sussex Weald. The surrounding area has 300 acres of footpaths and cycle routes to explore, though many guests find themselves content to remain in the garden. No smoking is permitted, and the accommodation is for adults only.
