About The Oakwheel

Coastal Road runs down towards Scarborough's shoreline, and The Oakwheel sits among the town's mix of walking routes, cycling paths and easy access to the coast itself, making it a straightforward base for exploring the area on foot, by bike or simply along the seafront.

The Oakwheel is a traditional pub-hotel with en-suite rooms, free WiFi and drinks available in room. Breakfast is served each morning, and a packed lunch can be arranged for days spent out along the coast. The restaurant and bar are at the heart of the place, with a menu built around homemade dishes - the steak pie and Sunday roast with seasonal vegetables are particular favourites - served at reasonable prices in a room warmed by a log fire. Staff are attentive and the rooms are kept clean throughout, and dogs are welcome.

There's a garden for warmer days, plus a pub and restaurant nearby for anyone after a change of scene, along with golf, fishing and watersports within reach for those wanting more active days. Free on-site parking makes arriving by car straightforward.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a wonderful meal at The Oak Wheel in Burniston. The fish and chips were absolutely delicious – perfectly cooked, fresh, and full of flavour. The walnut and goat’s cheese salad was equally amazing, beautifully presented and one of the best we’ve had. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit, providing excellent service without being intrusive. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and had a warm, inviting atmosphere that made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. A lovely dining experience all round. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend The Oak Wheel to anyone looking for great food and excellent service.

We decided to stay here as we have passed by so many times whilst visiting the Yorkshire coast. What a good choice it was. Lovely friendly pub with great food and beer. Room was fine ,clean with a good shower and always plenty of hot water. Special thanks to Lisa our breakfast waitress who was so friendly and they do a great breakfast with lots of choice. Bus stop close by for trips to Whitby or into Scarborough. Will definitely stat again.

Although we haven't stayed here we went for dinner tonight and it was delicious. I had pan fried salmon with peppers and onions in a chilli sauce and it was brilliant, my husband had the belly pork and new potatoes and veg. Everything was hot and fresh and extremely tasty. The 2 young girls were lovely and very pleasant. Really lovely pub well done 👏
