A hidden gem. Very interesting museum set in an old church with a fascinating history about illuminated manuscript making and a link to the book of Kells. The gentleman in charge was very helpful and gave us directions to other local pictish standing stones.

Excellent museum exhibits of Pictish history. Displays of carved stones and an informative video of local history in the small cinema room. The Tarbat Discovery Centre is a museum and local heritage site located in the village of Portmahomack on the Tarbat Peninsula, near Tain. It is built within the ancient Parish Church of St Colman and serves as a major hub for exploring Scotland's Pictish and early Christian history.

Really well documented history centre. Interesting for families with kids as well. We were lucky to meet mr. McRae at the ticket box who is a real storyteller on every question we had!
