Auld Kirk House

Scottish Borders

View on Google Maps

Auld Kirk House is a converted church in Westruther, in the Scottish Borders. The building retains period features—vaulted ceilings, original staircase, stained glass—but is furnished and equipped as a modern luxury home. It sleeps ten across five bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, and can accommodate one dog.

The ground floor holds an open-plan living space with a woodburner, a dining area, and a kitchen equipped for serious cooking: two electric ovens, an induction hob, a combi microwave, an air fryer, dishwasher and wine cooler are all here. There is also a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, plus a study. Upstairs are four further bedrooms; three have zip-and-link super-kingsize beds that can be split into singles on request, and one has a regular double. The top bedroom includes an ensuite with both bath and walk-in shower. Electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included; the wood burner's initial fuel is provided. Underfloor central heating and an air source heat pump run throughout, supplemented by solar water heating. A hot tub sits on the front patio, which has garden furniture and a sitting area. There is private parking for three cars and an electric car charging point. No smoking inside the property.
