The Hive

Families and small groups will find The Hive works well as a riverside base. The caravan sits directly on the banks of the River Teviot within Riverside Caravan Park, two miles from Hawick. You get the whole place to yourself: three bedrooms (one double with ensuite toilet, two with zip-and-link singles that can be made into doubles), a shower room, and an open-plan living and dining area with a working kitchen. Essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered. One pet is welcome.

The layout keeps everything on ground level, with just three steps to the entrance. The kitchen has a gas cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine—you can actually cook rather than rely on takeaways. The living area has a smart TV and electric fire. What sets it apart is the enclosed garden with decking and furniture overlooking the river; this is where mornings and quiet evenings happen. Private parking for two cars is on site. The caravan is non-smoking.

Hawick itself has independent shops, restaurants and museums exploring the town's textile past. Wilton Lodge Park, a short drive away, offers riverside walks and a café. Those interested in history can visit Drumlanrig's Tower and Hermitage Castle. If you're after outdoor activity, the area has fishing and cycling nearby.
