About Hillview Guesthouse
Hillview Guesthouse occupies a 17th-century crofter's cottage on Achintore Road, about a mile and a half south of Fort William town centre and set above the shore of Loch Linnhe. The old building has been extended and modernised over the years but keeps its thick walls and cottage proportions. The position is what sells it: the loch lies directly in front and the Ardgour hills rise on the far shore, which makes for a good view from breakfast onwards.
Rooms are en suite and let on a bed and breakfast basis. They are decorated simply and kept immaculately, with comfortable beds, tea and coffee trays, televisions and free wi-fi. The best rooms face the water, and several have space for a small family. Off-street parking is provided, which matters a great deal in Fort William during the summer, and the owners are used to guests coming and going at odd hours for the hills.
Breakfast is cooked to order and served in a dining room with the same loch view, offering a full Scottish, porridge, smoked fish and local produce. There is no restaurant or bar on site, but Fort William's pubs and restaurants are a short drive or a twenty-minute walk along the loch-side path, and the owners are a reliable source of advice on which ones are worth the trip.
The guesthouse works well as a base for Lochaber. Ben Nevis, the Nevis Range gondola and the Glen Nevis walks are minutes away; Glencoe, Glenfinnan and the Jacobite steam train are within half an hour. The West Highland Way finishes in Fort William, so walkers completing the route often stay here, as do climbers, cyclists and people driving the Road to the Isles towards Mallaig and the Skye ferry. It suits guests who want a well-run, personally hosted small place rather than a chain hotel.
What guests say
I enjoyed it. Breakfast included. The hosts are so nice and inviting. It’s a family operation. I booked very last minute and my room was very small but it was all I needed for one night between hiking days in Glencoe and the Isle of Skye. Thank you.

Jane was amazing!! We loved our room and the view of the Loch was incredible. Staying here was a highlight of the trip and we would stay here again in a heartbeat! Finding it was so easy and it had great parking out front. Overall loved it!

I really didn't want to give this place a 3 star review at all, since this place could've been one of the best B&Bs I've stayed during my 2 week trip to UK. Then I realized this place didn't have hot breakfast! Like for real? It was just a continental buffet breakfast with some cheap pastries/bread/yogurt/cereal/juice etc. This place was the most expensive B&B out of 4 different B&Bs I've stayed while in the UK. And while to be fair, this place had the best quality of room, having a good breakfast is an integral part of "B&B" (in my opinion) and English hot breakfast is a pretty big deal to me that I value a lot. Needless to say I was pretty disappointed, especially since I paid more for this place vs. the 3 other B&Bs. And ALL 3 other B&Bs had a full English hot breakfast, one place even had similar Continental breakfast buffet selection on top of a full English Hot breakfast. Again, this place had good quality rooms, they were clean, relatively modern/new and relatively spacious. The location wasn't the best, but it was good enough being like a less than 10 minute drive from Fort William town center. If you don't have a car you probably would find it a bit inconvenient but it still isn't too bad. For anyone that cares about having a Full English hot breakfast, beware.

We stayed here one night and we have no regrets: truly a wonderful stay. The hosts were very hospitable, the location is great (we had breakfast right in front if Loch Linnhe) and the rooms were very cozy. Breakfast was handmade and delicious. 100% recommended
