About Strudda Bank Pod Paddock

It's very much a family affair at Strudda Bank Pod Paddock – three generations now live and work this traditional hill beef and sheep farm on the Lake District's quieter western edge. The setting explains their contentment: Ennerdale's wilder fells lie close by, Seascale beach is fifteen minutes away, and Wast Water and Scafell Pike are within half an hour's drive, yet you'll find plenty of emptier valleys to explore right from the doorstep.

This is a thoroughly rural stay – gorgeous views sweep across the Calder Valley, and your neighbours are the farm's 100 cows and 1000 sheep. The wooden pods themselves, though, are far from rustic. Each sleeps up to five in comfort (double, bunks, small sofa bed), with underfloor heating, ensuite shower room and mini kitchen equipped with hob, microwave and fridge. All bedding, towels and kitchen kit are provided, and there's a deck with firepit-barbecue and picnic bench for alfresco evenings under big skies.

Stayed here in the camper van amd had a great time! Kev gave us the tour of the farm which my partner absolutely loved! This place is in the middle of no where so make sure you bring plenty of supplies! Great spot though especially if you had kids 👌🏻

Had such a brilliant weekend at Strudda Bank Farm. The Glamping Pods are spotless, warm and extremely well equipped and the views are 2nd to none. It's a wonderful farm to stay on with children as you are really encouraged to ask questions and get hands on with the animals, and as city dwellers that is such a precious opportunity. The position of the farm makes it easy to get out and about, with wonderful places to visit. Thank you Kevin, Yvonne, Pete, Vicky and family for making us so welcome we had the best time x

My partner and I have just got back from a 4 night stay in Herdwick Hideaway for my birthday and we honestly can’t recommend it enough. The pod had everything we needed, it was immaculately clean and the hosts couldn’t have been more welcoming or accommodating. The balloon and cupcakes on my birthday was an extra special touch, thank you! We can’t wait to visit the Lake District again and we wouldn’t hesitate to book the Herdwick Hideaway.

Stayed in June with my Grandchildren! They loved it and Yvonne was really nice, taking the time out to show them the newest arrivals on the farm. Immaculate accommodation highly recommended. Very peaceful....definitely coming back
