Couples and small families will find 2 The Calf Pens works well as a base for exploring Sheffield and the surrounding countryside. The property is a former farm building, now converted into holiday accommodation on an active farm near Loxley. It sleeps four across two double bedrooms—one a standard bed, the other a zip-and-link that splits into singles if needed—with a bathroom upstairs and a living room and kitchen-diner on the ground floor.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer, and doors opening onto a stone patio. The living room also has garden access, leading to a second seating area. You'll have wifi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included; there's parking for two cars on site and a bike store with washing facilities. The grounds have some steps, so worth noting if mobility is a consideration.
The location puts you within reach of walks along the River Loxley and footpaths through the village itself, with pubs nearby. Sheffield city centre and the Peak District National Park are both accessible for day trips.

A beautiful cottage in a gorgeous location. Spotlessly clean, big towels which is always a positive and the welcome pack including tea coffee bread milk eggs biscuits and a bottle of wine was very welcome! A haven to relax in! We will definitely be returning!!

Could not ask for more. Great location to go exploring and easy access to the city. Very smart barn conversion, peaceful (wouldn't really know it was on a working farm) and welcome pack was a lovely thought. Would recommend and consider a return stay.

Our 4th visit to the Calf Pens in as many years. A beautiful cottage on a working farm set in a stunning location with easy access to the Peak District. We received another warm welcome from the host and a fabulous welcome pack. Thank you

We were given a very warm welcome by Andrew and Jane at The Calf Pens when visiting family over Christmas. There were Christmas decorations and a very generous welcome pack and made to feel very much at home. The cottage itself is just excellent in all aspects with high specs and very comfortable. Very friendly local pub Admiral Rodney and some beautiful Peak District areas to visit near by. Loved the personal farm visit. Highly recommended. Mike and Gwyneth
