What diners say
Had a wonderful solo lunch at Brawn recently. Beautiful space filled with light on a warm sunny day, coupled with warm service and delicious food. The lunch set plate was a very generous serving, so I made a mistake by also ordering a starter…. The two dishes have been enough for 2 to share tbh. Lovely wine list, cold martini, casual vibes, and due to the cosy nature of the seating some banter with other diners occurred and was welcome. Must shout out Kitty who was a deadset legend, honestly the entire team was lovely but she was above and beyond :) thank you Brawn!

Brawn is nearing institution territory on Columbia Road, and a midweek visit proves the E2 atmosphere is as lively as ever. The small plates outstripped the mains here. Starters were stunning, specifically the melon, cucumber, and stracciatella, and a beautifully balanced bluefin tuna with peppers. But the larger plates stumbled: lobster spaghetti came out punch-in-the-face salty, and the bavette with corn and girolles lacked the delicate sophistication of the opening dishes. The meal cost just over £200 for 3 people with 500ml of Rosè, which puts it at high end at the increasingly competitive Columbia Road. Local competition is definitely hotting up with Tiella Trattoria a very strong impression nearby. Still, along with Tiella and Campania, Brawn keeps this stretch of E2 remarkably well-fed. We’re spoiled for choice.

Fantastic restaurant. The 2 mains (anglotti and the monkfish) were fantastic. The sauces on the dishes were delicious. The tarte tatin for dessert was perfect. Very good service and really nice ambience. Very cool space

We went for lunch, and would do it all again. Started with Irish oysters, light cheese puffs covered with parmesan, a zesty orange & radiccio salad, tender veal ossobuco, gremolata & buttery roast potatoes. Followed by sticky pavlova, rhubarb and pistachios on a pistachio sauce. Staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant atmosphere was relaxed - they also have another room (for bigger groups), from where you can watch chefs in action. Lots of wine choices and cocktails too.
