About Albright Hussey Manor Hotel & Restaurant

Albright Hussey Manor occupies a genuinely moated fifteenth-century house on the edge of Shrewsbury, its black-and-white timbered wing standing alongside a later Jacobean brick extension. The moat still rings much of the building, crossed by a small footbridge, and gives the grounds an unusually storybook feel for a working hotel just off the A528.

Bedrooms mix exposed beams, four-poster beds and leaded windows in the older wing with slightly more contemporary rooms in the newer part of the house, and several look directly out over the water. The restaurant, built into the timber-framed hall, serves a seasonal menu of Shropshire produce and is popular locally for weddings and Sunday lunch as well as with overnight guests.

Its position on the northern edge of town, close to the Battlefield roundabout, makes it an easy few minutes' drive into Shrewsbury centre or onward towards Whitchurch and Chester, while the grounds and moat give guests somewhere genuinely quiet to return to after a day's sightseeing.

I’m reviewing this as a wedding venue. In June my daughter and new husband had the most perfect wedding at The Hussey. Two years of planning led to this day and Emma supported us every step of the way. She was totally unflappable, no matter what we asked and whatever our latest panic was. On the day everything happened like magic and again Emma and Paul were superb. Absolutely nothing could have been better. When you take this perfect team, add in a beautiful manor house and wonderful surroundings it was truly a day to remember forever thanks everyone. Highly recommended

Loved this location, very nice grounds, the staff are super helpful and friendly, however the rooms are old and didn’t have any USB or fridge, shower was good and the water was piping hot. I would stay here again but think a suite should at least have a fridge. Just a short taxi ride into town and back so no issues with the location.
