About The Lion Hotel Shrewsbury
The Lion Hotel Shrewsbury occupies a storied old coaching inn on Wyle Cop, one of the town's steep and characterful streets. Its age shows in the best way, with the kind of solid, traditional charm that comes from centuries of use rather than a recent refit, and it has long served as a gathering point for travellers passing through Shropshire.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, and there's a bridal suite for those marking a special occasion, alongside meeting rooms and a dedicated wedding venue for larger gatherings. Guests can expect breakfast, room service and drinks brought to the room, plus free WiFi, a lift, and laundry and luggage storage for practical needs. The on-site restaurant and bar are complemented by outdoor seating, making it easy to eat and drink without leaving the building.
Shrewsbury Castle and Quarry Park are both within easy reach, and the surrounding area suits walking and cycling as well as evenings out, with pubs, bars and restaurants nearby and a golf course not far off. It's a good base for exploring the town on foot, with the hotel itself forming part of the historic streetscape it sits among.
People say this hotel has a great central location with convenient parking, and guests often mention the friendly, helpful staff.
Other reviews mention rooms can be neglected and dated, and the hotel can be noisy.
