Canal Central sits on the first floor of a cafe building right beside the Montgomery Canal near Oswestry. The flat has two bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed, one with two singles—a shower room, and a separate toilet. An open-plan living space with a kitchen, dining area and lounge opens onto a balcony with outdoor seating; the kitchen has an electric oven and gas hob for cooking. Wifi, bed linen, towels and heating are all included.
The cafe operates downstairs, known for freshly baked scones and cakes served warm, and staff can arrange horse-drawn narrowboat trips and canoe hire from the grounds. A pub is a quarter-mile away. The canal itself is ten yards from the property and unfenced. Parking for two cars is on site. Access to the flat is via 15 open-tread steps. Note that the property has steep or narrow stairs internally, and smoking is not permitted.
The location works well for exploring the Welsh Marches and nearby Shropshire attractions—Chester, Shrewsbury, Llangollen and its steam railway are all within thirty minutes' drive, as are four National Trust properties. Canal walking starts outside your door.

Went down to support an amazing charity event for cancer research in loving memory of our grandad Peter Kirkman, who used to be a regular guest here. We took our baby by carrying her as a pram wasn’t suitable. We parked at canal central as we were only 15 mins. Upon return we were ambushed by the owners while trying to put my child in the car. Didnt seem to care why we were there and did explain that we would of had a coffee if they were open. Really put a dampener on a a really amazing day. Wont be parking there or using their facilities again as were really rude. Targeting a mum on her own has shook me

I got stuck in a deluge today and damaged my undertray. I turned up at the canal central and the gentlemen serving went over and beyond to help me. He phoned local garages for me and helped me locate kwik fit as a place to get the car sorted. I did this and was in and out in less than an hour. Thank you so much! And we had a lovely coffee the day before too with the family. Great little find.

This cafe is located adjacent to the canal and we were lucky that we were passing on the Sat and Sunday and so were able to enjoy their delicious home made scones on two consecutive days. Friendly welcome rounded off our visits. Recommended!

This was a lovely stop for a break during our walk along the canal. We enjoyed tea with scones and clotted cream. Everything was delicious. The owners are very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them. We ate outside and had the company of some very friendly birds. They enjoyed the crumbs of the scones as well.

Diners like this cafe's delicious, freshly baked scones and cakes, which are often served warm from the oven. They also highlight the friendly staff and the cafe's convenient location right by the canal.
