The Granary
Shropshire
The Granary is a detached former agricultural building, now fitted out as a complete holiday base. Everything needed for self-catering is here: a kitchen with electric cooker and hob, fridge, microwave and breakfast bar; a first-floor living space with Freeview Smart TV and dining area; and a ground-floor bedroom with a double bed (4ft 6in) and ensuite shower room with heated towel rail. Electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are all included, along with a welcome pack.
The property stands next to the owners' home on a private site with parking for two cars and a bike store. There's an enclosed garden with seating and furniture for outdoor time. The single bedroom and bathroom suit couples or solo travellers; note that smoking is not permitted inside.
Shropshire offers serious appeal for food and culture enthusiasts. Ludlow, the county's gastronomic heart, sits within reach with its lively independent shops, restaurants and food fairs, plus a castle hosting festivals and open-air theatre. The town has over 500 listed buildings spanning Georgian and half-timbered periods. Shrewsbury and Ironbridge are also nearby. For something different, the Secret Hills Discovery Centre charts the geology of the surrounding hills from inside a turf-roofed building, with a simulated hot air balloon flight as its centrepiece.
