Bruton sits in the rolling countryside of South Somerset, between the Devon and Dorset borders. The Chapel occupies a former farm building on working dairy land, surrounded by rural valleys and open hills. The village itself is small and quiet; the market town of Chard, with shops, cafes and restaurants, lies roughly five minutes away.
Inside, the building balances period character with modern comfort. Original features—exposed stone walls, wooden beams, a bread oven and wood burner—sit alongside clean contemporary design. The ground floor holds a living and dining space with TV and log burner (logs provided), a kitchen fitted with two electric ovens, induction hob, dishwasher and washer-dryer, and one bedroom with a double bed. Upstairs, a second bedroom has a kingsize bed and access to an ensuite wet room with heated towel rail. Underfloor heating runs throughout. A large private garden opens from the kitchen and main entrance via double doors onto a partly covered patio with furniture, ideal for morning coffee or evening drinks. Wi-Fi and parking for three cars are included. The property accepts one well-behaved dog and is entirely yours alone—no shared spaces. Smoking is not permitted inside.

Beautiful hotel with lovely rooms and a complimentary breakfast with fresh croissants, which was great value. Unfortunately, a heatwave arrived during our stay, and we had four sleepless nights because our premium room became unbearably hot. The fan provided wasn’t enough, and the windows couldn’t be fully opened for better ventilation. It also made even less sense that our more expensive premium room didn’t have air conditioning, while some of the standard rooms did. Despite that, the room itself was lovely, and we would consider staying here again—but definitely in the winter.

Cafe was cute and the building is lovely. The drinks were good, with a nice bakery. Service was a little chaotic, but friendly and I'm sure we'll be back.

We didn’t stay at the hotel but we went to have a light lunch at the restaurant. The food was very good, we ordered the burrata, lamb belly, sourdough chorizo pizza and sides. The lamb belly was delicious, and the pizza was great. The burrata was good but a little underwhelming. I’m giving them 4 stars because the staff was not very friendly at the beginning.

Popped here for dinner for my mum’s 60th and everything was just perfect. The service was amazing, catering for multiple food intolerances and communicating what could be done. They also did a lovely birthday plate for my mum. Would definitely return!
