Duck Pond

Duck Pond is a single-storey cottage where everything unfolds on one level. You step into an open-plan space combining living and dining areas, with the kitchen to one side. The bedroom holds a zip-and-link super kingsize bed, convertible to two singles if needed, and the ensuite has a cubicle shower and heated towel rail. Throughout, oil underfloor heating keeps things warm; electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are all included. Parking for two cars sits on-site, and dogs stay free.

The cottage occupies part of the 113-acre grounds of Cloncaird Castle, a 15th-century estate set beside the River Girvan near Kirkmichael. The landscape offers woodland walks, a fishing pond and river access, along with a shared front garden with seating. Beyond the immediate grounds, Kirkmichael village (just over a mile away) has a shop and pub. The Ayrshire coast lies within 10 miles, with sandy beaches and coastal paths; Culzean Castle and Dumfries House are both nearby. Turnberry Resort, famous for golf, has a spa and outdoor centre. No smoking indoors. There is a pond and river 200 yards from the cottage.
